Twitter trend to draw Pokémon matching their different abilities ! I will soon hold a giveaway on twitter if anyone is interested
hiii! love the color traits; you’re a genius. this isn’t a request, but a question! how simple is it to “colorify”? i’d love to make my own (if it’s alright with you!) little additions like the presents or toothbrush someday :]
Hiya! Ahhh I'm glad you like the color traits! I'm really not a genius though haha, I'm surprised no one had made these before me.
I'd be very happy to see color trait mods made by others! How simple it's to make these varies with different objects, but basically:
Make 12 recolors of an object in question (if using images as textures, otherwise it's TXMT editing)
Create the needed TXMTs and TXTRs and link them together
Add lists of mesh groups and materials if the object doesn't have these already, add new TXMTs to the material list
Locate where in the related code the object gets created
Right after it add inventory checks looking for color traits, followed by material changes that swap the texture to the correct color if a trait is found
I think it's easiest to get the proper idea of what all this means in practice by looking inside the toothbrush mod. To give a more specific answer I'd need to know what object is worked with. My inbox is always open if anyone needs advice :)
Milshrew - Shrew Pokémon
Type - Normal
Ability - Pickup / Immunity / Sap Sipper (Hidden)
Evolves into Mushrewm at level 19.
It keeps its fur wet to promote the growth of fungi, its favourite food. Sometimes they can be found building nests in damp basements.
Mushrewm - Shrew Pokémon
Type - Normal / Poison
Ability - Effect Spore / Poison Touch / Sap Sipper (Hidden)
It’s developed a taste for poisonous mushrooms, and it can channel the toxins from its food into its bite. Its presence is a sign of nutrient-rich soil.
Drumble - Scaly Pokémon
Type - Dragon
Ability - Sap Sipper / Multiscale (Hidden)
Evolves into Draggop at level 18.
An odd Pokémon that can be seen sitting in treetops, grazing on leaves. It clumsily falls from its perches often, but its scales keep it safe.
Draggop - Scaly Pokémon
Type - Dragon
Ability - Sap Sipper / Multiscale (Hidden)
Evolves into Draborate at level 36.
It can no longer live in the trees, but it still has a powerful leap. It pounces on its prey, but since its prey consists of shrubs and bushes, this is largely for show.
Draborate - Horned Pokémon
Type - Dragon
Ability - Sap Sipper / Multiscale (Hidden)
Though weighed down by its magnificent shell and horns, it can move in surprisingly fast bursts. These decorations are for protection and for display; it remains a docile herbivore.
Ambug- Encased Pokémon
Type- Rock/Bug
Ability- Solid Rock/Sap Sipper (Hidden)
Ambug are ancient Pokémon that became trapped in tree sap and fossilized. Upon revival, the bug Pokémon within is restored to life, but unfortunately, it remains totally immobile within the hardened amber. It somehow manages to survive anyways despite not being able to eat, drink, or breathe, which may be related to its potent psychic powers.
Carambug- Sap Bug Pokémon
Type- Rock/Bug
Ability- Gooey/Sap Sipper (Hidden)
Evolves from Ambug at level 37.
Carambug’s sap is now a viscous, sticky liquid instead of solid, but the bug Pokémon in control is both mostly unchanged and still motionless for some reason. Though its size and large horn make it appear dangerous, in reality it acts like most weak Bug-type Pokémon- it prefers to live in colonies, fears bird Pokémon, and tries to bring food to its “queen,” which it identifies as the first thing it sees upon revival.
Baarb- Steel Wool Pokémon
Type- Normal/Steel
Ability- Iron Barbs/Sap Sipper/Rock Head (Hidden)
Baarb’s wool is made entirely of sharp strands of metal, interspersed with iron spikes. They’ve been raised by farmers for centuries, as their wool can be sheared and then smelted down to forge tools. Although most of their diet is grass, iron ore is an important food for them as well- Baarb that are raised without steady access to the metal will have their wool start to fall off in patches.
Ramshaackle- Gold Wool Pokémon
Type- Normal/Steel
Ability- Iron Barbs/Sap Sipper/Rock Head (Hidden)
Evolves from Baarb at level 38.
Ramshaackle live high on mountains, where there are few plants but plenty of mineral deposits to consume. They compete with each other by clashing their horns against each other- the clanging from these battles can be heard for miles around. In ages past, Ramshaackle’s golden wool was seen as a symbol of nobility, even if any clothing made out of it was impossible to wear.
Nectair- Long Beak Pokémon
Type- Grass/Flying
Ability- Sap Sipper/Gale Wings/Speed Boost (Hidden)
Nectair resembles its favourite prey, Novraian Cherubi, so that it can get nice and close before striking with its long, thin beak and draining all of their energy. It prefers to hunt Cherubi because they’re filled with delicious sugar, which it needs due to its high metabolism. If none are available, it will peel bark off of trees and drain sap instead.
Soarup- Maple Pokémon
Type- Grass/Flying
Ability- Sap Sipper/Gale Wings/Speed Boost (Hidden)
Evolves from Nectair at level 25.
Soarup uses its beak to drill into trees and greedily drain all the sap out of them. It must eat several times its weight in sap every day because of how much energy it expends rapidly flapping its wings. Certain farms in Novrai use them to efficiently extract sap from trees, which is then regurgitated and sterilized to make a tasty syrup loved by both people and Pokémon.
Ambug- Encased Pokémon
Type- Rock/Bug
Ability- Solid Rock/Sap Sipper (Hidden)
Revived from the Sap Fossil.
Ambug are ancient Pokémon originating from millions of years ago that became trapped in tree sap that hardened and fossilized. Upon revival, the bug Pokémon within is restored to life, but unfortunately, it remains totally immobile within the hardened amber. Despite its inability to move, eat, or even breathe, the Pokémon inside manages to survive. This is believed to be related to its latent psychic abilities, though whether these were developed while it was alive or after revival is unknown.
Carambug- Sap Monster Pokémon
Type- Rock/Bug
Ability- Solid Rock/Sap Sipper (Hidden)
Evolves from Ambug at level 34.
Carambug’s amber coating is now fluid and can be manipulated by the bug within, which for some reason continues to remain perfectly still. However, when struck by an attack, the sap rapidly solidifies, making its defenses stronger than they appear. Though its large size and intimidating claws and stinger make it look dangerous, in reality it mimics the behaviour of most small, weak bug Pokémon- it uses its claws to forage, has an extreme fear of bird Pokémon, and tries to bring food to its “queen,” which it identifies as the first thing it sees upon being revived. Very few of them exist, but they are highly social when they do meet, and in the absence of other Ambug or Carambug, it will bond closely to a Trainer’s other Bug-type Pokémon.
