Crimson orbs caught sight of his stares as fingers combed through the lush brown fur of her tail. When she noticed she stood & flicked her tail his way.
❝ 'Tis fine fur, would you not agree? ❞
She only assumed she was staring at her tail instead of bare porcelain flesh for she was not one for m o d e s t y.
John was sore in places he didn’t even know a person could be sore until now. If it was below his eyebrows or above his ankles, it hurt. Strangely enough, his feet didn’t, which was odd given all the running he’d been doing. Or chasing, rather. For as big as he was, Hellboy could move like nothing he’d ever seen. He was no slouch, but he couldn’t keep up with Red to save his life. Not that that stopped him from trying.
It had been the mother of all long days. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d had the chance to sit down in the last twenty-four hours, and he was looking forward to it.
That and one good cup of coffee.
He lost his coat at the door, one of his shoes somewhere between there and the bedroom, and by the time he reached the bathroom he was down to his socks. He flicked on the light and sighed. “Aw, Abe.”
It didn’t occur to him to wonder what Abe was doing in his bathtub in the first place, his main concern was what it was doing to Abe’s back. He wasn’t small, and the tub wasn’t big. He didn’t doubt it would be kinder to roust Abe and send him on his way rather than let him do his back in all cramped up like he was, but he didn’t have the heart to wake him.
He crouched down beside the bathtub, ignoring the twinge in his coccyx that accompanied the movement. He rolled up the sleeve of his sweater and ran his hand through the water to make sure it wasn’t too cold. He didn’t know if icthyo sapiens could get sick, but he didn’t want to think about how unpleasant sneezing underwater would be, or how much trouble he’d be in if Abe caught a cold. The thought of running around after Abe (or God forbid, Hellboy) with a box of Kleenex and a thermos of tea for two weeks was as chilling as anything the BPRD threw at him.
He turned the warm water on for a few seconds, stirring the water around Abe with his hand to distribute the temperature, careful not to jostle him. He turned the tap back and patted Abe’s knee gently. “Sleep tight, buddy.”
"I can't reach them. That EMP must have knocked out our comms. I thought you said you worked the bugs out of that thing?"

The water tickled Margaret's toes as she sat down, not caring if her skirt got a bit sandy. Brushing her hair out of her eyes, she wished she'd remembered to tie it up as the breeze quickly blew it back in her face again.
-- I feel like I should be singing right now...
Margaret thought, smiling a bit to herself. Her friend said she saw a mermaid out on the coast last week and she'd called her a liar.
A splashing noise that was not made by her reached her ears and she stood, taking another step into the water.
She stepped back almost immediately upon locating the source, loosing her footing and falling backwards into the water with a noise of surprise.
In front of her was something, but it definitely was not a mermaid.

"Abraham." The name was not spoken without mockery of ill-intent, the corners of the Prince's lips obviously up-turned at the ludocrity of such a sound to be made by his lips.
"To think there is such a name."
