THAT MOMENT IS SO GREAT. In the middle of all the pain and heartbreak suddenly “XIAO JINGYAN STOP RIGHT THERE” and Jingyan freezes in his tracks lol.
That was the best part, that Jinyan is obviously so conditioned to being scolded by his best friend that he /still/ folds for it.

You're making me want to rewatch this show because I remember I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about the characters but I can't quite recall the details enough to talk about them at length. I just have a lot of flailing along the lines of "JINGRUI IS TOO GOOD AND PURE FOR THESE DIRTY POLITICS" and "CONSORT JING IS THE MOST GRACEFUL AND LOVELY OF ALL."
The only downside I have found over this show so far is that I have trouble stopping to actually talk about what’s happened in each episode because I just want to start the next one up instead! BUT I LOVE SO MANY PEOPLE IN THIS SHOW. Jingrui kind of sneaked up on me a little, but oh man he is too good and pure for that court, 100% agreed, and Mei Changsu’s complicated feelings (even if we only see them for a moment) when Jingrui finds out who tried to kill MCS while staying at Marquis Ning’s place was just. “I hope he makes it through all of this.” OH NO FEELINGS. I really, really love their friendship, for all that it’s not the same epic thing that he has with Nihuang or Jingyan or even Meng, it’s still really solid and real. I’m glad Jingrui at least as Yujin, who has been slowly growing on me as well. JINGRUI NEEDS BETTER PEOPLE IN HIS LIFE, SINCE SO MANY OF THE ONES THAT ARE THERE ARE TERRIBLE. I haven’t seen a ton of Consort Jing yet but SHE HAS BEEN GREAT SO FAR. Actually, I kind of wound up liking all the Consorts, for what they are. Consort Jing is lovely and graceful, Consort Yue is fun to watch her plotting, the Empress is intriguing as she’s just trying to remain steady in the face of all this fuckery and support her son. (At least so far.)

4) favorite character you’ve written
Probably Phil Coulson. I don’t know if I’ve ever captured him correctly, but I have tremendous fun writing him. Especially in combination with Loki. ^_^
I’m not sure how to continue writing him after Agents of Shield though... That one kinda screwed up all my headcanons. :(
Right now I’d say my favorite character to write is Shiro from Voltron. Which is odd because I usually don’t go for the broken ones?? But apparently the dad friend is closer to my heart now that I have reached the actual mom age. LOL
15) why did you start writing?
I’ve always been writing something. Even when I was a wee little teenager. It was often some sort of funny essay or just things that would make my friends laugh or to get something off my chest. I wrote about RL stuff, school, classes, things that I thought were silly, that sort of thing. I should probably add that I used to write in German, of course. But at some point I started reading in English, and watching TV in English, and that got me into writing in English as well. Also, German fanfic is, uhm... awkward. For me, at least. Can’t do it.
I got into fandom really really late (I was already over 20 LOL), but all of a sudden the opportunity to write about my favorite characters presented itself like HALLELUJAH. I even started by writing porn LOL And anything longer than 5,000 words was actually unachievable back then. But oh how the turns have tabled. XD

You can watch Nirvana in Fire on Viki.com! It’s 54 episodes (~40 minutes each episode) and I would say give it 3-4 episodes to get going for you + have the Wikipedia entry (and the episodes page) open to help keep track of things until you feel a bit more comfortable. Just the first paragraph or two, so I promise I’m not giving you a ton of homework! AND IT IS WORTH IT. THIS SHOW IS SO GORGEOUS. And, yes! The political intrigue of the show is legitimately interesting and engaging, I’ve been delighted by how well each character’s reasons for doing things + what they would/wouldn’t know + how they’d feel about it have been done so far! And there are moments of real cleverness, both in the set-up from the writers and from the characters themselves! The series has also just nailed that pining between characters that gives me feelings without feeling overdone, I felt like the show really and truly earned all those heart-tugging moments. I got why Mei Changsu couldn’t tell anyone who he was, I got why Jingyan was torn between trusting him and not, I got why Nihuang did everything she did. They all get to be really smart while still providing tension and understanding why they keep everyone at arm’s length. I AM ONLY SIX EPISODES IN AND ALREADY I DESPERATELY WANT FIC/ART, I’M NOT SURE HOW I’M GOING TO SURVIVE.

I WAS SO WARY THAT I WOULD BE ALONE IN THIS. But they just hit all the right buttons for me, THEY COULD BE SO CUTE , PLEASE LET THERE BE FIC/ART FOR THEM.
