Hey! Please feel free to ignore this, but I was just curious about how you personally go about writing? Are you more of an outline person or a go-with-the-flow person?

i'm definitely a serial outliner, though i've been trying to play more with running with it and seeing where ideas take me lately! i actually start most of my fics by outlining by hand in a physical notebook because i just think better that way i guess. i kinda have to know where i'm going before i can really write, or else i just get bogged down in not knowing what i'm working towards. plus, i love playing with foreshadowing and dramatic irony, and i can't really do that if i don't know what i'm building up towards!

(that isn't to say that my outlines aren't fluid or that i don't ever change something bc i had a different idea while writing it, but like, having a plan that's subject to change is a lot easier than not having a plan at all.)

for example here is part of my outline for my kon&cass nonbinaryisms fic that i will keep writing.. one day:

i tend to outline with a lot of detail (like, planning conversations + moods per scene) because for me it's about picturing how i want the fic to flow so i can capture the vibe that exists in my head. it's like... the transition point between daydreaming about it vs making the daydream into an actual story, i guess!

sorry for the random ask, but what did you study at university (if you went)?

I did my undergraduate degree in history and classics, with my undergraduate thesis being on the back half of the eleventh century and the first crusade, and my classics focus on Ancient Greek language. And then I did a master’s in medieval history and wrote my thesis on the Albigensian Crusade.

I work in data governance and my life’s only aspiration is to be a writer

their mutual admiration for each other in yj98 is soooo cute. also the way cissie gets so possessive over cassie that she's shitty to anita out of jealousy is... yeah girl? you wanna talk about it? but also cassie summoning cissie to the baseball game bc she thought of her too hard. GIRL. I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

it's not actually conflictless fluff like people love to do to wlw ships!!! i think cassie's mental health spiral and descent into full time heroism would cause Problems in their friendship and quietly budding romance (cassie is absolutely not ready to admit she likes girls until after kon's resurrection tho). and cissie might be sure she made the right choice in leaving heroism behind, but that doesn't make it any easier for her to see her friends getting hurt and to be helpless on the sidelines. not when she knows there was a time she couldve helped. there's a fic in my head (god knows if ill ever actually write it) about cassie hiding injuries from cissie bc cassie's like "you left the hero world behind, you said you don't want any of it, so why would you want to know the nemean lion broke three of my ribs last week? im TRYING to honor your boundaries" and cissie is like "thats not what i meant and i don't know how to explain to you that i love and care about and worry about you????" but it's just messy. like the love is there but so are the issues. you know?

Hey! I was wondering what your thoughts were on the trailer for the new James Gunn superman movie?

a) i'm so sad i can't do movie theaters and will have to wait for it to become available to stream later. alas!

b) KRYPTO... if anything happens to krypto in this movie we will have to kill lex luthor. understand this. i Love that pupy dog

as far as actual thoughts regarding the content... well, people treating superman as a representative of the US when he intervenes in foreign affairs has definitely happened in the comics, which i honestly admit i'm a little wary of on the big screen just in that a lot of times when this narrative shows up in the comics it's... not very critical of US imperialism as a concept. sometimes it's better done than others (such as when he gives up his honorary US citizenship at the end of postcrisis because he wants to make it clear he belongs to the world, not one nation), and sometimes it's marv wolfman's racist tripe, so, uh, it varies.

that said, it's definitely very possible for superman to stop a war from breaking out in ways that aren't inherently like "yay american imperialism" so i'm not condemning that as a narrative beat by any means! just a little wary of it.

i think lois grilling him is really good and in character for them, but the "i would question myself" line also has me a LITTLE like eehhh, just in that i hope it's not supposed to be a "young clark who's just started as superman and doesn't actually think about the consequences of his actions and has to learn to do that over the course of the film" story because i personally find that boring. established superman in the comics is a very cerebral guy who thinks and even OVERthinks about the consequences of his own actions, such as in the two-issue arc where he knows his neighbor is abusing his wife but agonizes over what to do because she insists she doesn't want anyone calling the police on him. i'd like to see that superman make it out of the comics and onto the big screen more.

i do think all the shots of the daily planet and all the various other heroes cameoing are really fun. hi guy gardner i hope to god we get to see superman being a hater bc of you specifically <3 i love when he's a hater <3
