A version of Cædmon's Hymn in Old English and assembled in Garageband, with some images just to fill in the video. The images are a sunset at my house, Pikes Peak, the Grand Canyon seen from the North Rim, and a sunset at a local lake. I sat on my bed after the kids went down for the night and made this. It's my own setting of Cædmon's Hymn, inspired by ‪@frandrewstephendamick‬ and ‪@RichardRohlin‬'s recent trip to the UK, particularly to Whitby. Cædmon was a particularly unmusical cow-herder who would sneak way from the pub when music began, but in a vision an angel gave him a song to sing. He went to Hild, the abbess of Whitby, and shared his story and his first song with her. Cædmon went on to write several more songs glorifying God, becoming a monk. My attempt at a fairly normalized version of the text is as follows: Nū sculan heriġan heofonrīces Weard, meotodes meahte ond his mōdġeðanc, Weorc Wuldorfæder, swa hē wundra ġehwaes, ēċe drihten ōr onstealde hē ǣrest scōpe eorðan bearnum heofon to hrōfe, hālig scyppend. þā middenġeard moncynnes weard, eċe Drihten, æfter teodde fīrum foldum, frēa ælmihtig The translation runs something like this (I've borrowed the Liuzza translation): Now let us praise Heaven-Kingdom's guardian, the Maker's might and his mind's thoughts, the work of the glory-father—of every wonder, eternal Lord. He established a beginning. He first shaped for men's sons Heaven as a roof, the holy Creator; then middle-earth mankind's guardian, eternal Lord, afterwards prepared the earth for men, the Lord almighty.

Just want to say thank you to four exchange students that are leaving the Hippogriffs after a semester full of fun - Renee D, Nica D, Sarah M, and Rae O - all wonderful, beautiful people who brought a lot of sunshine to the club <3 It was a pleasure playing with you all, know that you'll always have a home here in Edinburgh. Gonna miss you guys <3
