So I’ve basically stopped watching every anime this season because of constant travelling and such and only now remembered to check Sarazanmai..

...Based Ikuhara did it with Reo and Mabu. I was hesitant to commit to the anime since Reo and Mabu were giving off obvious “tragic end” vibes and I’m so relieved that they went with a “randomly revived at the end and still together happily” random route. That and Ikuhara foregoing any open interpretation and Mabu saying aishiteru to Reo. I think it’s the first time an anime whose primary genre is not BL does that

The only thing that I can understand is that “Sarazanmai” is going to be to BL what “Yuri Kuma Arashi” was to yuri. All the weirdness is a metaphor to tell the story of three middle-school boys that suddenly have to deal with their sexuality and other complexities of society and the adult world. A part of me is skeptical  about how well they’ll pull it off, but I’ll find out when I watch it.
