In their father’s absence, Alys’ brother needed to assume the position of castellan. It was rightfully his and it was his duty. The girl knew that Rickard’s decision to leave Torrhen behind at Karhold was causing great grief to her brother. He would have sooner gone to war with the rest of House Karstark’s men and his displeasure was evident. Alys feared that he would grow to resent her and refuse to fulfil the role he was meant to fill. She dreaded how Arnolf could effortlessly take advantage of Torrhen not rising to power.  

❝ I know you wish to be away from here but there will be no ransoms and glory in the war for you. Your duty is to rule our lands.❞ She would if she had been born a man. However she had little value and power. She was too aware of that and it was the reason she had been so adamant that one of her brothers must stay with her.

Paige knocked on the door, waiting for her brother to answer. It had been a little while since she saw him last, what with being abroad on digs. “Connor, you better get your butt up and let me in, I’m freezing my butt off.” She said, pulling her coat tighter around her. She was still adjusting to the British weather, having been in a hot climate.

PLOT: MUSE A is having plumbing troubles in their new house and MUSE B says they can fix it: except they can’t, they just wanted to spend more time with the cute neighbor. (bonus if MUSE A has to spend the night at muse b’s place because of it)

She wasn’t sure HOW but apparently the plumbing had become well and truly fucked. Somehow she was sure Connor had been involved. In fact, she knew he was partially involved due to him trying to fix it earlier which lead to it’s current state.

❝ Any luck? ❞ she asked hopefully when he emerged from the lav. Take-away menus were in her hands. She’d thought about cooking but didn’t want to subject him to the limited resources her fridge seemed to now contain. Apparently she hadn’t been to the shop recently.
