I'm doing a re-read of Stephanie Garber's brilliantly magical world of Once Upon a Broke Heart, and I'm gonna be taking y'all with me! because my friends don't read. it is a tragedy.
It's a re-reader's live reaction series, so I've placed it under the cut for spoilers~

Let's Dive In~
Warnings and Signs
I forgot this chapter existed, lmfao. I love how the bell describes both Luc and Evangeline, it's so sweet to her and completely roasts him. As deserved.
Though, the bell is kinda wrong. Luc was step one on Evangeline's journey to her true love. Why else would she get tangled up with the Prince of Hearts otherwise? She wasn't in the North, Chaos had no way of knowing the key was in Valenda until Jacks made her famous.
Chapter One
I used to this Jacks' church was the most popular oops. Only one of the most popular.
Wait SG never covered why the doors disappeared though. I'm gonna try to match the timeline when I get to Legendary, what made him want to hide?
It did end up being a sign, but not the boy she saved wasn't the one she was trying to. Cute.
Drop of blood falling on the door and it opens, I wonder if this has happened to her before and she just never noticed.
Evangeline's greatest heartbreak being Jacks' scent when he's being mean 🤌🤌
Incredible start to her speech. I love the "now I'm about to lose the boy I love." It makes me think of transition to awkward and stilted to speaking her heart out. Also, this is why PR is important, Agnes being awful made her the #1 suspect and Marisol being nice made her "she would never do this."
Apple Count +1. On SIGHT, I swear he had better control with Tella... Both of them are so obvious with the love at first sight.
Chapter Two
"People who don't like me call me Jacks." "You can call me Archer." This boy I swear.
He's her favorite Fate and her favorite fairytale, they were made for each other your honor.
"waves of soft pink streaked through with pale gold" wait. does she have pink hair with gold highlights to make it look rose gold. whaaaaaaaatttttt.
He's so judgemental for no reason like gods forbid a girl has only ever had one lover? Wdym "that is pathetic" boy chill. not everyone is as experienced as your ancient ass.
Eurgh I forgot Luc's cringeass proposal. Knowing it's a dialogue makes it worse. He's such a basic unorginal man.
Yet again questioning how he knew Marisol was the culprit. How many of these evil stepsister stories have you seen over the centuries sir.
Questioning all the biting (it's fun) (but seriously why is everyone so bite-y)
I want to get the three hearts tattoo.
Chapter Three
I forgot Luc was conscious at the end.
Apple Count +1, white again.
Chapter Four
All of them suck. She never felt the warmth of another person, they didn't even embrace her? Even for show?
"But as hopeful as Evangeline was, she knew the Prince of Hearts wasn’t a savior. He was the one people needed saving from." Ahahaha...ahahaha. Eemember when Jacks said the same thing.
Chapter Six
He didn't forget about her <333 but the chapter in ACFTL is doing a lot of heavy lifting honestly. I prefer the "fell slowly" version, cute as the love at first sight is.
Also did anybody ever tell Evangeline Jacks was the Prince of Valenda? The ridiculousness of going from Prince to Exile is—
Girl gets revived and people immediately want a piece of her. Let her have her cake omg. She needs food.
Screaming "No! Don't feel bad! She doesn't deserve it!" when she feels guilty towards Marisol but Evangeline's heart is my favourite thing about her. I love how she's soft. She's pretty, she's pink, she's girly, and she's proud of her femininity. With so many female leads around that are all leathers and suits and reject their whimsy, their feminity, Evangeline is such a breath of fresh air. Let our leads be badasses while being their girly selves. Let them still believe in good, in magic, in wonder.
usually when anyone posts/says something along the lines of "omg I don't know what I'd do without [[insert whatever person's name here]]" I smile and laugh sardonically to myself inside my head
