Building off that last post, I've decided that my favorite kinds of species in fiction are small, anthropomorphic reptiles. The obvious reasoning being that anything too humanoid is boring (humans, elves, dwarves, asari... any species from star trek and most from star wars, really), that anything that doesn't play with anatomy is boring, and that I was a closeted furry in school.
Like, I love modern kobolds in DnD, lizardmen in WH are swellickers, the UGF troopers from Lilo and Stitch are neato... uh... The Lizard from Spiderman... Koopa, Sarkans, Deathclaws, Ridley from Metroid, Naga from WoW (I think? they're more fish or salamanders, but...), the Mipedians... you get the idea?
Admittedly, a lot of those aren't necessarily small, but still.
