All self-explanatory, although I think “Soul” requires a bit more explanation: in medieval Islamic philosophy–derived mostly from Neoplatonic ideas–there was a concept of God having created a soul in heaven, then having split it into two. And in the philosophical debate held on love in Jaffar’s father’s court, this thing you see in the panel is what was said about these two halves of the once-single soul finding each other upon this earth–drawn to each other like magnets–to become the one soul once again, no matter what. (Note that this could, absolutely, apply also to same-sex pairs, as in the more permissive parts of high-ranking medieval Persian society, the highest ideal of love and beauty was, as in ancient Greece, the love between a grown man and a youth.)
