Is it el sarten or la sarten

It depends on which country you’re in (and the situation, possibly)

Usually Spain uses feminine while most - but not all - of Latin America uses masculine (I’ve heard that Peru uses feminine sartén but I don’t know for sure), but there are times when the same country will use one or the other in different regions

I was also told by a friend from Mexico that they use el sartén but they also use the phrase de la sartén al fuego for “out of the frying pan and into the fire” or tener la sartén por el mango “to have the upper hand” [lit. “to have the frying pan by the handle”], but that might just be them, or it might be that these are kind of established phrases that sound fancy with the feminine

The RAE says that in lenguaje culto which is like “fancy book learning” roughly speaking, it’s feminine and it’s used that way in fancy situations, but that some countries use the masculine form so both are accepted

And not all countries have that fancy distinction, but some kind of do

Me enojan todos esos "hacks" de como abrir cerveza cuando no tenes destapador porque en la mayoría rompen el pico de la botella, lo que no solo hace que te puedas cortar si no también puede que caiga vidrio adentro y lo ingieras sin querer, cuando literalmente abrir la botella de cerveza con cualquier cosa es una boludes.

Con mis hermanos tenemos una especie de competencia. Creo que lo más raro con lo que yo abrí fue una cadena, y lo más épico un machete, las dos sin que se rompa el pico.
