Ganbatte and Fun vibes~!!
Hey guys~!! For those of you who don’t already know, there’s a new Anime convention starting up here in Saskatoon, known by the name Ganbatte!! I just LOVE the staff of Ganbatte, they’re honestly a ton of really great people~ Everyone I already know of the team is super friendly, welcoming, and most important, they’re super supportive. Not only support for my hobbies and interests, but support of my identity as part of the queer community as well~ I’m really excited to meet the rest of them~!!
So far, Ganbatte has had two fundraisers, both of which were Steak nights that went quite well in my opinion~! Steak night No.1 was held at Bridges, and the second (my personal fav) was a Cosplay Christmas supper held at Tomas the Cook~! At events like these, there will normally be a “Guess the chest” full of chocolate loonies and other small fun things (Normally set with a theme~), awesome door prizes, as well as a silent auction where we auction off items graciously donated by lovely supporters and places such as Unreal City (Who donated an awesome figurine last time~), to help raise money for the convention!! Once Ganbatte receives more support and more people start attending these events/ fundraisers, there will be bigger and better fun packed events, and eventually, a convention, so keep your eyes peel for the cool happenings~!!
I really hope to see all of you lovely Saskatchewan (and other~) nerds coming out and joining in on the fun~ I know a quite a few people and other friends who were kinda bummed out about the whole Saskatoon Blitz thing, but for those who are looking for something new to attend, please feel free to look up Ganbatte Con~!! While Ganbatte is an Anime based convention, all fellow geeks, fans, and friends are accepted with open arms~
So far, there are no set dates, but the Summer of 2016 is when Ganbatte hopes to kick off, so be ready to book a day off work once the date is announced!! If you have any other questions about the Ganbatte related things, feel free to throw me a message and I’ll try my best to answer~!!
