30 Days of Character Development - Day 9

9.) Who does your character trust?

There are very few people in the world that Saskia trusts, and it is extremely hard to earn a place among those people. First, Saskia trusts Viktor. Although they are not always close, she trusts him to be honest with her, and that he is a good friend. Secondly, Saskia trusts Quinli. Despite the pair having broken up, and while Saskia may not admit to it, she does trust Quinli. She knows that Quinli is a kind person, and would never go out of her way to try and harm someone. Finally, Saskia trusts her older sister Cassidy. For a long time, Cass was the only person that Saskia was comfortable opening up to, and her sister was always a safe place to go when she was struggling with something.

30 Days of Character Development - Day 8

8.) Day of Favorites! What’s your character’s favorite ice cream flavor? Color? Song? Flower?

Saskia is actually very particular about what she does and doesn’t like. For ice cream, Saskia cannot resist a bowl of vanilla bean, with peanuts and chocolate drizzled over the top. Her favorite color is not black, despite her rather bland wardrobe. She’s actually partial to green. Saskia does not like any song in particular, but she rather goes through phases with songs. She will spend a couple of days with a song stuck in her head before she moves onto a new one. Finally, Saskia’s favorite flower is anything that she can use to make a medication or salve. She’s not overly feminine, so she’s never taken an interest in flowers aesthetically.

30 Days of Character Development - Day 7

7.) Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why?

Saskia would like to erase the events that lead up to her and Quinli’s breakup. While she does see that for now, it was for the best, Saskia feels awful about the way she acted, and how she knows that she made Quinli feel. It is, to date her biggest regret. She’s not sure she would change the outcome, but she would go back and do things differently, and make sure that she was not horrible to Quinli.

30 Days of Character Development - Day 6

6.) Describe your character’s happiest memory.

Saskia’s happiest memory is a relatively recent one. Shortly after she met Quinli, the two began spending time together, however it wasn’t what one might expect from a couple. These two lovely ladies went down into the muck near the infirmary, and began to dig through it in search of plants that they could use to make medicine. Things were so easy, and neither of them had to try very hard. It was just fun, and they enjoyed each other’s company.

30 Days of Character Development - Day 5

5.) What’s your character’s ranking on the KINSEY SCALE?

Although Saskia is not completely sure of her sexuality, she does know that at this point in her life, she prefers women. Objectively from an ooc standpoint, I rank her at probably a 5. To date, she has never found herself attracted to a man. That being said, Saskia is still rather young, and she’s not completely sure of who she is yet, so she may eventually find herself attracted to a member of the opposite sex. Only time will tell.

30 Days of Character Development - Day 4

4.) How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive? 

Absolutely not. Saskia struggles with seeing herself as attractive, and it’s a huge part of the reason she dresses in covering clothes. She’s not what most people might consider ‘sexy’. She has very little curves, she’s on the taller end for a woman, and she’s extremely pale. All of this makes her feel very self conscious. Additionally, Saskia is not a fan of her glasses. If she could, she would leave them at home, even for a day. Unfortunately, she cannot see six inches in front of her own eyes without them, so she is stuck with them.

Confessions

Saskia made her way back into the infirmary after all of the commotion had died down.

She hated herself for leaving, but the sight of Quinli like that made her sick. She knew she was a good medic, but maybe this is why doctors aren’t supposed to operate on the people they care for. Trying to figure out what to do in that moment had made Saskia sick to her stomach, and after leaving the main room of the infirmary, she spent the next hour throwing up.

The lanky medic made her way over to sit beside her friend. Viktor was just staring blankly at Quinli. Saskia kept her eyes cast down to the floor, and leaned her head on Viktor’s shoulder. “I’m sorry I left.” Before Viktor could speak, Saskia spoke again. “I love her, Viktor.”

14. Something someone could say to hurt them?

“Uhm. Well. I don’t think that anyone could say anything to hurt me? No. That sounded like a question. People aren’t always the nicest to you when you are poking them with a needle. So. I’ve been screamed at a lot. Been called a lot of things. I think, if I was close to someone and they said something mean, that would hurt. But not just anyone.”
