I finally got the chance to go to the "sassy lion thrift store" and tbh it wasn't all that sassy. i'm kind of disappointed..

Thoughts on the first episode

 Alright, so I thought the episode was pretty damn good, but it was lacking a lot of my favourite shit, so I kind of just sat back and enjoyed it without frequent heart palpitations anytime a favourite appeared on screen.

 Basically, I thought Liam and Jack stood out the most this episode. I really like Davos (even though I find his chapters a bit boring), and I thought Liam really got him down, while adding a bit of his own flavour. I agree with people when they say the Cressen thing was sort of... shoved aside. Like, people who just watch the show wont understand how important Cressen was to the Baratheon brothers, especially Stannis.

 Meanwhile, Jack Gleeson is, again, probably my favourite actor talent wise on that show. He is so fucking good at playing Joffrey. I'm actually nervous anytime he's on screen-- he plays the menacing, psychopath card so well. It's unsettling. I'm really excited to see his reign of terror continue, even if it is hard to watch.

 And speaking of hard to watch-- that last scene? With the bastards being killed? Yeah, that was not at all pleasant to watch. As soon as they dragged the girl out with the baby I knew exactly what was going on. And I know a lot of people aren't happy with Ros being back, but I'm reserving judgement to see how she plays out in regards to the rest of the story. I think she's just there to be a 'witness' of the events, so we'll see how it all goes.

 Robb was... Robb.

 I really liked the scene with Jon and Mormont, where Mormont pretty much gives him a verbal bitch-slap. I think a lot of why Jon turns out the way he does in ADWD has to do with Mormont grooming him properly, and getting him to that stage where he can lead. So it's great to see the show already setting the dynamic up. Crastor was, as I predicted, a pig. Which is spot on, so good job.

 Melisandre and Stannis were alright. But they were totally overshadowed by Davos. I literally couldn't take my eyes off of Liam's performance and I cannot wait to see more of him. Stannis was the usual stick in the mud, which is appreciated. I like his constant correction of the scribe-- very Stannis. Melisandre... as someone who has never really jived well with her, I thought Carice did a good job, but I still don't like her *laugh*

 That scene between Cersei and Littlefinger was interesting, but all I could think during it was "Just wait until LF ends up plotting your sons assassination!" I personally do not agree with the line 'power is power', but perhaps this comes from me being very much a 'knowledge is power' sorta person. I am just pumped to see Littlefinger and Margaery together later on.

 And finally, Jaime. I love Jaime, I thought his scene was amazing, and his usual sass and snark comes out beautifully.

 I don't know what else to say. Good episode. Next week, though? Yeah, that's what I'm looking forward to.
