Not A Meaningful Review of Hulu’s Helstrom series

So, I watched the first few episodes of that new Helstrom Hulu original series that says it is based on or inspired by the Marvel comics Damien Helstrom Son of Satan character.  I kind of like it, but it’s weird, and one of the weird things is how much it reminds me of the Lucifer television series that aired on Fox.  Like, they took a supernatural darkly tinged superhero property that exists in the greater context of a superhero universe, and they made it a spooky cop show.

It’s not bad, but I’d like it better if Damien were a caped bare-chested trident-wielding guy with a  pentacle on his chest.

Putting him in a normal three piece suit that any cop show’s plainclothes detective could wear is changing things up, a lot, for questionable benefit.
