VINYL DAY 2016
Last April 30, 2016 Satchmi organized an event with a theme ‘Vinyl Day 2016′ at UP Town Center, Katipunan. I’m with Edrick, a good friend of mine, who’s new to the local indie scene, fortunately he enjoyed the night. We both did because there’s live music, cute retail stores, fun crowd, free treats, and so much more!
Actually, my plan is: I’d go to the event so I could watch and listen to Jensen and the Flips, Bp Valenzuela, and The Ransom Collective live. But unfortunately, we arrived during Moonwalk’s set (after Jensen and the Flips) because earlier that day, we attended SDG Youth Agenda in BGC. Damn it! But guess what? My friend, loved Moonwlk’s music and I loved the vocalist’s swears. (LOL he swears too much). So we stayed close to the stage until Bp V’s turn and I’m so grateful because I was a front liner! Bp V even smiled at me!
After Bp Valenzuela’s set, we decided to roam around and look for bottled water and then Edrick’s dilemma started. That time, bottled waters’ out of supply. Nonetheless, he just bought a coffee worth a hundred peso, although it tastes very bitter, he had no choice.
After a little chill time and snaps somewhere, we once again set our feet near the stage when we heard the host announced it was The Ransom Collective’s turn. The drummer is so attractive. Sadly, we’re not a front liner anymore, so we just stood there at the left-almost-back-side of the stage, facing the drummer. I almost fainted when he looked at me and smiled and when he gave me his glances and that 6-seconds stare (or I’m just dreaming). You know, that’s one of the best things that happened that night. I want to ask for his name after their performance, but we have to go. :(
Anyway, my friend searched for his name and yay for the attempt, we found him. His name is Redd and he’s from the University of the Philippines. Bright child, man. So now I have come up with two reasons why I’ll go to The Ransom Collective’s gigs. 1.) MUSIC. 2.) Redd. and I will wear my mint-green cardigan so he would recognize me. LOL. But I swear their music is chocolate to my ears.
To sum up, the indie artists performed so well, we discovered new music and enjoyed the night. I’m just hoping Filipino’s will support more local music.
What a beautiful, beautiful day I had. Thank you, Satchmi!
