So a Metal horde of great bands coming to wreak havoc on the fair city of Edinburgh this April! Heavy Scotland festival; with an epic selection of bands on the bill Including Behemoth, Arch Enemy, Finntroll, Destruction, Grave, and so many, many, more! But, there one slot that is unfilled. And What is the best way to decide what band to make it the opening band In this monster festival? To have a BATTLE OF THE BANDS competition of course!
So to help out and give you metalheads a guide to what to expect to at this show; I’ve decided to have a mini competition of my own. 1 track each has been sent in from each of the bands battling it out, and it’s up to me to choose among them and try to predict who will win the night! Totally unscientific I know, but what the hell! eh?
First up though congratulations to victors of the last battle Lucifers Corpus & Corrupt The System.
Through to the final they go!
So lets the part 2 of the competition begin!

Ifreann
Solid track thrash metal is presented here, angry sounding with a few hints towards the power metal like a thrash metal 3 inches Of Blood. Ignoring the very mild if even noticeable bedroom style production on this track these dudes sure know how to write a strong tune!

Satiracy
Even throwing in a few also guttural vocals, and even a few blast beats this band has thrown in a great blend of thrash and melodic death metal. There really is something for everyone here, but mostly sore necks!

BlackWork
This half breed metalcore band would have fit in like a glove to the previous headliner Dead Label. Pushing together a lot of alternative tendencies into the mix with the new school tech-djent rhythms and clean sung moments, all while keeping it heavy! These guys are sure to hit the right spot for the crowd.
Again bonus point for having a snazzy video to going along into this.

Runemaster
Classic metal to the bone this lot from taking the slow pounding pace sound from the very Gates of Slumber and mixing it in well the battle metal sound of Grand Magus twisting it with their own flavor! Superb!

Ramage INC
Earthshakingly heavy! Like a secret love child of Mikael Åkerfeldt and Devin Townsend from that night they had that orgy with Gojira. These guys are sure to make a lasting Impact!

Prediction:
A heavy and varied metal night of merriment is bound to be a memorable one with plenty of good thrashing to be had.
So on the verdicts!
4th Place: BlackWork the change of headliner might be detrimental to this band standing but are still bound to show the other bands a thing or two.
3rd Place: Ifreann - just missing out a place in the final this thrash pack has a lot of spirit but might be a little outclassed by our next band.
2nd Place: Satiracy - Providing a mesmerizing mix of all the right sound these metallers are bound to do well in the night!
1ST Place: Runemaster - although the slower band of the night they should get everyone rocking with their relentless and bombastic take on metal this crew is bound to get the night going great!
Congratulations to the victors and all the best to all the bands taking part! (i hope once again to be proven wrong on who wins!)
