The last 2 films of Rurouni Kenshin『#るろうに剣心最終章 The Final／The Beginning』, which was originally set to release this summer, have been delayed until the Golden Week 2021 (around late April - early May) due to COVID-19 situation in Japan.

Sato Takeru's comment regarding the postponement of Rurouni Kenshin movies:

My apologies to everyone who was looking forward to the release of this movie. While hoping for the day that everyone can safely come to the cinema, I feel that it's important to continue making a steady progress step by step. Let us take care of our health so we can welcome the next year's release date, and we will surely meet again. I pray for everyone's happiness in life. Sato Takeru

Director Otomo's comment regarding the postponement of Rurouni Kenshin movies: Because of the studio’s closure during the emergency state declaration, all work have to be stopped, furthermore, we can’t continue the finishing work and various preparation for the release of the movie. It’s very unfortunate because this movie is aimed to be the “starting signal of the revival of entertainment”. I’m very sorry for everyone who was waiting for the release of this movie. Towards the new release date, we’ll work hard to improve the quality, creating a movie that everyone can enjoy, so it can be enjoyed in a cinema filled with enthusiasm from the audience, that is the whole team’s unwavering commitment to this movie. In the era after coronavirus, so that we can deliver a stronger inspiration, courage, and hope, we’ll put our soul into the rest of finishing work, so please look forward to “Rurouni Kenshin - The Final Chapter”
