One thing I haven’t seen anyone talk about is how Izutsumi is a perfect example of that awkward lanky teenage stage all cats go through you. You know the one, where they grow in length but not size
Like this is the same picture
Trans woman who’s really into electronics and named herself Cathy (short for Cathode Ray Tube)
“Heh, you should see the other guy” I say, walking out of a closet covered in cartoony lipstick kisses. You peer into the closet and there’s just a computer absolutely smashed to pieces on the floor
Call out post for myself
If this post gets 5,000 notes I’ll come out to my parents
I know 100% they would be supportive but I still need the confidence because anxiety is kicking my ass

It’s about grief it’s about grief it’s about grief!!!!! The movie itself does so much about “oh well the alien is a metaphor but nobody knows what for” and “what’s the point of the play what’s the meaning?” And even like reviews themselves get caught up about it like I just saw an article called “Maybe Asteroid City wasn’t mean for theaters, or to be understood” but like it’s so obviously about grief !!!!!!!!!!!
You have this single earth-shattering event happen to you (aliens are real/loss of a loved one) and you just have to carry on with your life knowing that happened!! Like when Augie is helping Midge with her lines and she tells him “Use your grief”, or Conrad’s death and how it affects Augie’s actor because they were lovers and now he’s gone Like everything about the movie is about grief!!
