I like the idea of them being a couple just before the occupation and Winn’s fundamentalism. In my head this plays out like Opaka cheering up Winn after a test or a lecture goes badly.

I'm curious. Mirror Georgiou/Mirror Lorca.

Okay, so there was definitely something there. Which makes everything that much creepier. But also that much more mythic and dramatic. 

Sex and power are definitively linked within the Terran Empire, and have been since “Mirror, Mirror”. Sex is a game, a release, a power play. Love is a trap, if it enters into it at all. 

The way I see it, Emperor Philippa has her favourites and Lorca was one of them. A favourite general, a favourite weapon, a favourite lover. But more than even that she trusted him with both her empire and her daughter, the two things that make up her legacy. And he stole them, the ultimate betrayal. 

Apparently, she kept his army of followers in pain booths on her ship for over a year. No public executions, no coercions back to her side so she can use them as spies, no far away imprisonment so he’d have to travel to get them back and she’d have that much more time and space to quash his rebellion before he got it off the ground. No, she carried them around on her flagship in a kind of hall of torture. I imagine her walking through it in the middle of the night or after a particularly harrowing strategy meeting or when she receives word of another rebel attack or it’s the anniversary of the day she found Michael. Walking through her museum of betrayal to gain strength from the sound of screaming.

Lorca fostered his relationship to Philippa, and eventually Michael, because it elevated his position. He was ambitious, it made him attractive, and once in ‘Pippa’’s inner circle, he cultivated their connection. Became her best general, best weapon, best lover, best partner in ruling and parenting. But it was always a role he was playing. He knew better than to get attached. In order to achieve his goal, he would have to betray and murder her. Michael was a Philippa he could control and he didn’t intend to love her either. 

Emperor Philippa and Terran Lorca loved Michael, not each other. Neither had altruistic, honorable, intentions for any of it. They both saw people as disposable. Lorca seduced young women and then threw them away for another and he’d been doing it since he was a young man. Philippa gathered people to her and then killed them with the flick of her wrist when she got a better offer and she, too, had been doing it that way her whole life. Michael was different, Michael was special. Michael was someone worth having, keeping, possessing. Loving, too. But a Terran love story is as dark as the rest of their reality.

I think Emperor Philippa and Terran Lorca grew up together, encouraged each other, used each other, had a dangerously emotional and aggressively sexual relationship, and finally went to war.

Star Trek Voyager, BSG if you don't know that one

Since I am in the middle of working my way through Voyager for the first time since childhood, I am going to go with BSG here:The first character I first fell in love with: Laura Roslin, off the bat adored her. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Gaius Baltar. Part of my growing up was realising that I can love a character as a character, as what they bring to the story, even if their actions are morally corrupt. Baltar was, I believe, the first character that really taught me this. He is a terrible, terrible person, but such a fantastic character. But also, Saul Tigh, actually, but he runs more in the Gabriel Lorca vein.The character everyone else loves that I don’t: I never got that into Kara. It’s not that I dislike her, it’s just that I don’t like her, per se.The character I love that everyone else hates: Helena Cain. She was terrible, but as a character, all to fucking real.The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Not sure I have any that I changed my mind on.The character I would totally smooch: Laura and Romo Lampkin.The character I’d want to be like: Laura Roslin.The character I’d slap: Lee needs to get out of my face with his self-righteous bullshiiiiit.A pairing that I love: Roslin/Adama and just thinking about them makes me think of their song oh good now I’ll cryA pairing that I despise: Damn, I haven’t been in that fandom for a while, but I remember I wasn’t particularly into Lee/Kara.

Thoughts on who will survive Game of Thrones/ASOIAF and the third head of the dragon.

Um, let’s think…

Definitely dying: Cersei Lannister because valonqar (books) general evilness (show), Littlefinger (stab him, STAB HIM)

Probably dying: Jaime Lannister, Brienne of Tarth, Asha/Yara Greyjoy (hello cannon fodder; goodbye cannon fodder) 

Hopefully dying: Jon Snow (look, I like Jon Snow, but if he survives the battle for the dawn and gets to be King Jon Targaryen, then you’ve basically got consequence free resurrection, which is the death knell of any fantasy property) 

Definitely living: Samwell Tarly (basically GRRM’s avatar)

Probably living: Arya Stark (author’s favourite), Tyrion Lannister (author’s favourite), Theon Greyjoy (at some point you’ve just got to stop kicking Theon), Sansa Stark (her superpower of ultimate politicking is not much use in fighting ice zombies, but will be of great use in a post ice zombie world) 

I don’t even fucking know anymore: Daenerys Targaryen, but I do like how much of the fandom will be ticked off if she makes it.

As for the third head of the dragon? Realistically, it’s either going to be Bran (warging) or Tyrion (the almost more impressive superpower of being the author’s pet) but my preference would for it to be literally anyone who’s not Bran or Tyrion.

I don’t know why anyone would hide under a bush cuz these are both EXCELLENT. They both fit into the established universe(s) of my head and heart, but in very different ways and for very different reasons and I love that.

Katrina/Lorca/PhilippaThis is far lighter because it’s back in the day (anything pre-war is back in the day). They’re of an age and I am more than happy to drop Philippa into my Gabriel and Katrina Academy headcanons. Imagine a Philippa as Harry, Gabriel as Ron, Katrina as Hermione scenario. I know, I know, Gabriel should be Draco and I can live with that, in that case I think it would be Philippa!Ginny, Gabriel!Draco, Katrina!Hermione, which I actually love even more, it’s perfect. Anyway, before I go too far into an unnecessary Hogwarts AU that I will now eventually write, they are a Trio™.  People have bets on which ones are sleeping together, and which one will leave because of it, but it’s all silly gossip because the truth is none of them is looking for a longterm romance, they have their sights on command. That ambition, that drive, and the fact they are all three brilliant and capable of getting there, is WHY they are a trio. 

It’s a race, a competition, to command, absolutely. One Katrina wins because Ginny and Draco have charm and talent and ambition but Hermione is the one who convinces the school to let her use time travel to be the best at everything. Hermione is a BOSS and so is Katrina Cornwell, bye. And you know what? Ginny and Draco are not even mad because they like to play it off but they are constantly in awe of her. 

Philippa gets second place because Draco has Problems With Authority and also he can be a little lazy when it comes to the homework of command. Katrina’s logs are tomes that include in depth psychological evaluations, and Philippa’s have little excursions into side stories that seem to have nothing to do with anything but then it turns out to be an amazing insight, but Gabriel’s are like “stuff happened today, I made the right decision and looked good doing it”. You can tell when he and Kat are working together because his reports are ten pages longer and make sense. And hers sound frustrated. 

Gabriel and Katrina fall into bed first, and often. Philippa thinks it’s good, they are her secret OTP, but she goes along with their ‘totally casual’ fiction.They all three date other people at various times but all of those relationships are actually totally casual. One night, Katrina’s upset, some date accused her of being cold and distant (like a Vulcan, even) and she’s worried she’s unlovable. And Philippa sighs and thinks this is all Gabriel’s fault, because Katrina keeps dating the wrong people because she doesn’t want to fall in love with anyone else, but he’s not the one to fix it because he still has to grow up so oh well, guess it’s on her. And she tells Kat that is ridiculous because she is the MOST lovable and also most brilliant and beautiful and stop crying and let me show you how much I love you. So now Katrina has a thing with both of them. 

Gabriel and Philippa are not really attracted to each other, but they both love Kat. Eventually all the lines are blurry. They fall asleep all together one night and it becomes the norm. Some morning Philippa finds the other two in bed and gets pulled in. It starts being what they do when they are all in the same place. Just Gabriel and Kat, yes. Just Philippa and Kat, yes. Just Gabriel and Philippa, there was that one time, and it was good but it was weird and they don’t do it again. Gabriel and Kat and Philippa, yes. They are still a Trio™ and there is still gossip but they still don’t care.

Michael/Ash/Lorca

My traumatized trio! Which is a terrible reason to get together, but it happens. Trauma isn’t the only thing they have in common. I’m waiting for at least hiatus to make edits that show parallels but I definitely see parallels. They are all three protectors, and all three willing to go dark to do it. And pretty unapologetically. Which is (very, very) different than not caring about it. They care A LOT. Michael suppresses her emotions and Ash puts on a happy face and Gabriel storms around like nothing matters beyond winning but all of that just shows me the incredible DEPTH of their emotions.  

I think they’ve been drawn into the darkness and found they are maybe more comfortable there, like they can see the light more clearly. And that’s scary and hard to explain to people who don’t already get it. So they are drawn together. Ash is the most well-adjusted and can provide stability. Michael provides perspective, she’s able to see beyond the immediate. And Gabriel provides passion for days. He’s also the anchor that’s drawn them together (that’s canon). He’s damaged and he’s more comfortable with damaged people right now*. And he wants to protect them, especially Michael, who he feels Starfleet has treated unfairly, (Michael stunned one Captain and is being blamed for the entire war, Lorca blew up an entire ship of their own people and was given a high profile command. This double standard only intensifies his guilt.) and wants to fix it. Fixing Michael, and Ash, the lost puppy guard dog who understands his pain, fixes him.

How would they actually fall into a physical OT3? I can see Ash growing up in a communal family which would make it natural for him. I’ve mentioned before that Michael should know about anthropological polyamory on Earth and Vulcan. I like @lionowlonao3​‘s idea that Lorca has a physical relationship with Michael and an emotional relationship with Ash and it makes sense to try and combine them once Michael/Ash is established.

Also their names really get me. Two archangels and the ashes of the dead.

*I have one idea that a part of Lorca’s screwed up awareness in sending Kat away is he wants her to come back from the Klingons broken -- by them and him -- so that he feels comfortable with her again.

Bellatrix/Voldemort, possibly the worst thing I've ever shipped

So, I’ve written this. More than ten years ago, set immediately after Order of the Phoenix plus flashbacks. Voldemort pov. Probably the most disturbing thing I’ve ever written and easily my most popular fic in HP fandom. So that’s a thing.
