what happened with Life is Strange <- never seen it just very curious
okay so. the first Life is Strange game revolved around Max and Chloe. their relationship was The driving force in the game, none of the events would've happened if it weren't for that relationship and how deeply and irrevocably they cared for and loved each other. the fandom widely considers them to be soulmates, that's how deep it goes. and the climax of the game has you choose to kill either Chloe or the whole town of Arcadia Bay.
the new game, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, just released the first two episodes for the people who bought the early release preorder bundle or whatever. it's a sequel 10 years on from the first game, following Max in a new environment with new characters. the game was marketed as being compatible with either choice, whether you sacrifice Chloe or Arcadia Bay, and claimed to be respectful of both endings.
however. Chloe was nowhere to be seen. only a couple in-game pictures and lines of dialogue mention her. which we were disappointed about, but accepted as understandable. the logistics of making a game that acknowledges two endings as final and separate as those... sure. fine. we can live with that.
but now the first parts of the game is out. and come to find out, Chloe broke up with Max. in a letter attached to a postcard. after she had already left. and the reason? because Chloe was too much of a free spirit, and Max couldn't keep up.
COMPLETELY FUCKING IGNORING EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF CHARACTERIZATION FOR EITHER OF THEM IN GAME ONE
