Considering Magnus was around 300 years old when he made Lestat, and Lestat and Gabriella were only 8 years old as vampires (Gabriella possibly a little less) in 1802 when the great burning took place on the TV show, how did Lestat and Gabriella survive it, do you think?
Yes, they are relatively strong, but even Lestat's maker, Magnus wasn't that old a vampire... At 8 years old, Lestat and Gabriella would surely not have power more than... I mean... lets say Magnus' blood coupled with Lestat and Gabriella being magically extraordinary might up their strength to that of a 100 year old vampire (which feels a bit of a stretch already) - still that is a very brief time in the thousands of years vampires existed?
Did hardly any vampires perish do you think, or is there some special other reason?
Good question!
I think that for one Magnus himself stole very strong blood (as we find out in the later books), and so his blood for Lestat was also very strong (beyond what a "normal 300 year old vampire" would have had I mean).
And then... I don't think Marius left them burning in the sun for that long.
And I think - and I know that has not been said yet - but I think in his haste to carry Akasha and Enkil inside while burning himself... that is when Enkil was then broken. Head bashed in. Fingers broken off.
The head bashed in is especially interesting here, imho.
The show has established decapitation as a means to kill a vampire, and now we get (big) head injury.
What they are establishing here is brain injury, ultimately, for killing a vampire.
So I think Akasha actually did not burn that long. Just long enough to burn the very young and weak ones.
And I think Marius in his haste likely dropped Enkil outside, his head got bashed in, and the sun burned the brain directly. And THAT killed Enkil.
