Do any of you fellow drum nerds know some history on Beverly drums? Premier made right? This kit had all of its reinforcement rings separated. This is the biggest problem with mixing wood types in a shell. Hardwoods and softwoods will inevitably work apart as they expand and contract at different rates over the years. A same (or similar) species shell will move as a unit and last much longer. In over 15 years, I've rarely seen a shell with hardwood rings and softwood ply mix, that wasn't pulling apart. Many vintage drums have never been to a tech in their lives (for gluing or sealing as needed),which definitely exaggerates the problem.
