A Prayer Of Thanks This Christmas

Dear Lord,

Just where would I be right now, without you?

Because of your love, I now know how to love.

Because of your patience, I now know how to be patient.

Because of your mercy, I now know how to be merciful.

Because of your truth, I now perceive lies.

Because of your righteousness, I now recognize evil.

Because of your power, I now understand that I am powerless without you.

Because of your promise, I have now been set free.

Because of your grace, I now receive what I don’t deserve.

Because of your son, I now know you.

Because of your son’s death, I now live.

For without faith, I never would have known these things.

And without faith, I would not have received grace.

And without grace, I never would have been granted salvation.

And without salvation, I would be dead to all things.

Is Our Faith In Christ, Or In Ourselves?

As we look back over our lives, there is a common thread persistent throughout, that has kept us from perfect harmony with the Lord. It is ourselves. Or rather, faith in ourselves. This faith, that without God, we are actually something. Faith that we have enough power and understanding, on our own, to manage and direct our lives in accordance with His will. It is thoughts like these that have led us astray. Away from peace, and ultimately away from Christ...
