This is an experiment I'm attempting to conduct on Facebook, but Tumblr may have the most active Fringe community out there, so I need you guys too. The recent sweet, but ill conceived "Help Nathan Fillion Buy Firefly" campaign didn't really make it off the ground before being gently (and rightly) disenfranchised by the PTB. But in the few days they were operational, the organizers managed to raise nearly $1,000,000 in pledges, to revive a television show that's been off the air for nearly ten years.
And that's got me curious about the largely untapped power of the fandoms, and what they might be do if given the opportunity. So if you could (you can't, but if you could) how much money would you be willing to pay to keep Fringe on the air, if your direct contributions would help save the show?
Try to be as honest as possible about your "pledge" amount, but tell all your friends. It's probably too late to make any difference at the rumored 'renew or cancel' meeting tomorrow, and it's doubtful it would matter anyway, but play with me here wouldja? I want to see what happens - and you never know, if we can raise a few million pretend dollars, someone might at least take a look.
I couldn't figure out an easy way to take hypothetical pledges with a button or anything, so I guess just comment your amount, and if anyone knows of a counter thingy that could do this with pretend money, PLEASE let me know! XD"
