This is the 'pauper's grave' of Sarah Chapman, another mighty person lost in history on account of her being poor and seemingly unimportant. She was a leader of the 1888 matchwomen's strike. She was one of the first working-class women to represent their union at the TUC. She most certainly made contributions to the beginnings of the modern trade union movement and to working women's rights. The grave was discovered this year by her great granddaughter (on twitter as @fantasticboys_2), and was nothing more than a grassy footpath with no marking. There is a petition pinned to top of my twitter feed, and also information in my bio, here. The petition is to save her grave and have a fitting memorial, 1,700 more signatures are needed and it only takes a minute. The photograph was taken by #louiseraw a historian and author with much integrity. Have a good Tuesday x #strikealight #sarahchapman #savesarah #samjohnson #matchwomensstrike #labourmovement #bryantandmaymatchwomen #bryantandmay1888 #TUC #workingwomensrights
Saw this on Facebook and didn't see anything about it on here, so spread the word and save this 17-year old girl. The link to donate is https://www.gofundme.com/27v8gac
Everyone please listen for just two minutes!! A 17 year old girl has just unfortunately and inhumanly been sent to a "corrective facility" for being gay. She hasn't been there very long, but the fact that she's been there at all is extremely heartbreaking, since "corrective therapy" is never at all helpful and hurts more than just being gay or trans or anything else. It pulls the person away from hobbies, social media, and real life friends and family. So please, it's not much, but could you donate to support this girl?
if you can, please donate, every penny counts: https://www.gofundme.com/27v8gac
Please share. Help this young girl get out before irreparable damage is done. Read her story.
