We are so saddened to hear that Granny, the oldest studied orca, has been announced as presumed dead as she hasn't been seen with the rest of her pod in months. There is now one less Southern Resident orca, hurling them even closer to extinction. We wish this amazing animal could have seen how many people she's inspired. Granny was estimated to be around 105 years old and was living amongst four generations of her friends and family. She lived through births, deaths, even SeaWorld's wild captures. Dolphinariums love to argue her age isn't really as high as researchers believe, but the truth is even if it were off 10-20 years she still is an amazing example of the deceptive much lower life spans these facilities tell their guests about. #SaveTheORCASDAMit! #NoFishNoBlackfish!
