#Repost @thesavemovement with @repostapp ・・・ Rest in peace beautiful Tilly, In death, you are finally free. Tillikum, one of the most famous orcas, who tragically lived the vast majority of his life imprisoned and alone, has passed on at the young age of 36 (for comparison, the beloved Granny, who was an orca who was living in the wild, has also just recently passed at the age of 100). He was ripped from his mother's side from the wild waters of Iceland when he was only two years old and put in a tank about 100 million times smaller than his natural home range. Before he was sentenced to his prison with almost no social interaction with any species, he faced years of forced performances and masturbation (his sperm was one of the most popular in the orca-breeding Industry before it was thankfully ended). He faced many health problems, including severe injuries from other sick and traumatized orcas, and teeth which had been ground into nubs as a result of neurotic chewing behaviour often seen in captive animals. It is beyond tragic that he succumbed to his illnesses, whether physical or mental or both (the exact reason for his death is being hidden) before we had a chance to free him to a sea-pen/sanctuary, where he could have at least lived a life with far more space, natural food, and most importantly, social relationships with other whales. But at least his death has freed him of his prison and misery. At least now, he can swim endlessly with no barriers. This MUST be a lesson for us to never treat a cetacean like this again and to fight for the freedom of all imprisoned animals regardless of species. Freedom should be a right for all. #riptilly #tillikum #govegan #seaworldkills #endcaptivity #freedom #freethewhales #animalrights #animalliberation #loveforall #animals #ocean #whale #cetacean #compassion #love #socialjustice #justicefortillikum #justice #feminism #ecofeminism #environment #environmentalist #nature #peace #liveandletlive
