The second prophecy (given in Chapter 39 of Comes Out of Darkness Morn)
“Five weeks before the time of longest light
There comes one who puts lesser foes to flight,
Who has a soul and magic cold as ice.
Now comes the hour
Of the black one's power,
And he shall die by the wand of the sacrifice.
·
Now comes the hour all truth is revealed,
Now comes the hour the gray one takes the field,
And first decision sets the path for all.
Now kindness is tested,
Now soft heart must be bested,
And on that test he will stand or fall.”
There are also some interpretations that are worth to point out:
Connor believed that the “black one” was Sirius Black, who would die by Harry's wand (the “sacrifice”). In other words, Harry would kill Sirius five weeks before Midsummer; the second part of the prophecy is not as important to him.
Others believe that only the timeline was correct. Voldemort and Sirius are “black one”, both sharing a body. Sirius kill himself using Peter Pettigrew's wand, who was a sacrifice too; the other half of the prophecy is related to the Dementors.
I would like to point out some things that can be interesting.
“Now comes the hour all truth is revealed”
In this book, the most intrigant thing is the true about the night of October 31st, 1981.
“Now comes the hour the gray one takes the field,
And first decision sets the path for all.
Now kindness is tested,
Now soft heart must be bested,
And on that test he will stand or fall.”
We see a new path in Harry's life, a path of freedom and magic: the path of a Vates, a liberator. And is that night in which the path will rise or fall.
However, that's just my opinion.
I would love to know your thoughts about this topic!
And before living, I am going to quote Draco Bloody Malfoy, just 'cause I want to.
“You have the strangest friends, Harry,” said Draco, a little too calmly. “Not including me, of course…”
Chapter fourteen of Comes Out of Darkness Morn, by Lightning on the Wave.
hello! im searching for an old fic, and i was directed towards you guys. it was recommended to me through tumblr, and the link took me to a site that had pdfs of each book. the fic was extremely long, it was as if the author had rewritten the whole series. harry/Draco of course. harry has a twin, and when Voldemort comes to their house the brother gets a heart scar and harry either still has the lightning bolt, or something different. lily and james survive, and they raise the two boys. harry in slytherin, brother in griffindor. at the beginning of the series harry seems obsessed with protecting his brother. like it’s all he’s meant for. you find out later on it’s because his mother did some magic on him that tied his will or something to being his brothers protector, and she also basically abused him. there’s a whole trial about it later on. it’s honestly one of the best well written conflicting trauma stories ive read, it helped me a lot. magic is a bit different in the story. harry is so strong he’s on a whole different level of magic. it’s like a special kind of level, and Voldemort happens to be on it. we meet the other higher level wizards too, there’s not a lot of them. i don’t remember if there’s a special name for them. i think wizards declare themselves light or dark, and there is a lot of politics around it. dumbledore is a light wizard, but in the end he’s basically the worst, trying to keep harry under the spell and help Harry’s mother because he thinks it’s the right thing. snape becomes a mentor as well, though it takes a lot because harry has been through so much. wizards can also inherit special powers either through just being lucky or someone gives it to them. Draco isn’t lucky, and I think he created his own spell to ask an ancestor to hand down her power? and he gets the ability to go into peoples minds. like i said, extremely long! it felt like I’d read the Bible or something longer lmao
Thank you for tagging us @snowgall!
Someone already found your fic anon! You can check it here in case you missed it.
Saving Connor (81k, M) by Lightning on the Wave
Don’t forget to favorite the fic and leave a review!
i've cried a lot. i knew every death besides the ones who died for the cup, but i still couldn't help myself. i screamed, really. as if i've lost my left hand. now i'm truly attached to the story and to this universe (not jk's) it feels like i know every single one of the characters. because they were deep, they had personalities and they lived. they were there and they were not some object decorates the background. man, i love harry. i feel for him, i can easily empathise with him, damn i feel like i really know him. we're kinda alike, or he made me think so. i'd rather this one to the original without a doubt. without a thought. oh my god, i still can't believe that i've finished reading, this 3500k monstrous something of words in 15 days. i fricking did it. and she fricking did it. and i have to say that this lecture taught me so much about myself, really, now i know that i am also unchangeably prone to change. i am so glad that i read this. i am so happy and i am also so sad.
The option to save Connor by going to the Circle is weird. On the one hand, it's odd that this cruel and heavy choice can be circumvented by just going there, and the only thing stopping us is if the Circle is Annulled (which most players won't do). Then again, maybe it's actually clever that we can reject such a choice and say "or we can go for help to people who are qualified to fix this sort of mess". A (probably unintentional) subversion of the usual "grim and gritty" choice.
I'm finally getting through the behemoth that it the Sacrifices arc by Lightning on the Wave. I got to the fourth book then stopped reading for a while, but with quarantine going on I've decided to read all of it.
Be prepared for me ranting and crying over the next few weeks (months? Honestly who knows, It takes me forever sometimes to finish books/fics) because this fic will drag me kicking and screaming.
I’m rereading the Saving Connor arc and while in some ways it is so frustrating to see how hard it is for Harry to break free and realise the truth and stand up for himself in others...
In others it means a lot that the abuse is shown to have moulded his entire preception of himself, his values, his needs relative to others, his pain, his duty, and his role in life. That he is unable to recognise it for a painful amount of time and resists for so long after he first starts to notice. That it is so fundamental to psyche that fighting it before he’s ready causes him intense pain. That he still loves his parents despite it and despite leaving.
Because it matters and because it’s the reality of how the mind is shaped as a result of child abuse. And it is so soothing to see and read it and so immensely validating. And it means so much to see him deal with it the way that he is most comfortable doing so, on a timeline that while it may be sped up by certain individuals is never coopted by them, and with respect for his perspective.
