i think people really under sell the physical side effects of mental health disorders sometimes. like sure the depression and anxiety may be 'just in your head' but when what's in your head happens to disrupts your sleep schedule and prevent you from going outside regularly and eating consistent meals and exercising and generally taking care of your body. well it sure takes its toll huh.
girl with ptsd voice: hey, so something really bad is gonna happen, right? you guys are picking up on that too, yeah? The other shoe is about to drop, I just know it.
funny thing about anxiety is sometimes it kind of breaks your sense of danger. like i am known for repeatedly putting myself in situations that make my friends go "bro you couldve died. werent you scared?" and the answer is 👍 yjeah. i did it scared. i do everything scared. i didnt know that was the actual important kind of scary because i usually have to ignore my fears to function in society. it will happen again. watch out.

another thing. and im posting this separately from Cole Discourse because it would be irresponsible to attach it to him specifically. is that--listen, i cannot in good conscience actively recommend that anyone read we breed lions, because i have not yet finished we breed lions. it is really, really hard to read. it sucks. it makes one want to throw up. but y'all really do need to get it in your heads that 1. the culture of abuse exists across the sport, at every level of elite development and 2. for every figurative lion produced by this culture, there are dozens and dozens of victims of abuse--including other players. the lions become lions by stepping on and over their peers. to declare everyone produced by the usntdp or hockey canada or whatever other stream uniquely evil is to ignore the fact that all of these programs groom not only the perpetrators of abuse but also many of their victims.
and if I said that the "girl's girl" discouse, particularly in regard to female musicians, is heavily reliant on the idea that men are allowed to be aggressive and competitive while women have to be nice and step aside to let other people past rather than be ambitious just packaged up in language about "the sisterhood"... what then?

it really is kind of interesting how attached people are to the idea of the improvised line and the genuine reaction in film. nearly every single famous moment or line has some sort of claim floating around that it wasn't in the script and was either made up on the spot by an actor or was sprung as a surprise on the actors to get their 'real' reaction. you know, sometimes people do come up with good lines in advance and write them down, and sometimes people can pretend to be have a convincing emotional response on screen

explained to an 8 year old that once a fruit is ripe you only have so much time until it rots so you have to eat it soon and she said so i'll never be able to keep it perfect like this forever? no and there are about a million pieces of art for you unrelatedly
