Character & World-Building Tip:
Don’t delete ideas. Move them. And I think that’s a pretty important tip.
Try to imagine it like this. You make a pizza. But you wanted a pepperoni, not a cheese. Are you seriously just going to throw it out? No. You’d save it for later or figure out something else to do with it.
All your creations are delicious pizzas.
Are you writing something down and just don’t like how it’s coming out? Do not touch that delete button I will break your fingers, you little troglodyte.
Just click the beginning and hit that enter button a few times and send it further down the page. Try again and repeat if it still doesn’t feel right. You’ll be able to look back at what you’ve written and nitpick what sounds best to reconstruct it into something you’re more happy with.
Even as we speak, I’m doing this right now. Rewriting each thing out and if it doesn’t come out like I want it, I’m pushing it down so that I can better organize myself.
Another habit to get into is cutting and pasting. Haha. No, not like arts and crafts you CHILD. I’m talking about Ctrl+A -> Ctrl+X. (If you’re on windows.) If you’re like me you’ll regret deleting often and love being able to paste what you deleted with ease. (Ctrl+V)
Just remember that everything you create is worth it’s weight in metaphorical gold. Try to hoard your notes so that looking back on them may give you some insight you didn’t realize before.
That’s my tip for now!
