SAWKI FIRST KISS IMAGINE IT! How do you think it would go, and how do you think Niki would react? Shy, perhaps?
Omg thank you so much for asking! I love these, people send me more asks >:O
Hmmm. I imagine it’s at Winter formal, one year after that horrific night for Nikita. Nikita was really hesitant in going, nervous even, Kain is probably even more nervous and trying everything he can to chaperone it. Nikita has picked a long dress this time, but she picks the same color as the previous year, completely unaware of her choice (Kain is prob having a heart attack all over again) but this time she’s wearing her converse underneath, you know, in case if anything happens. Sawyer convinces her they should go stag, and have fun, and make fun of all the couples. They meet up at the dance instead of going together, Kain and Alex drop her off where they just chill outside, smoke their cigs, and listen to the music and talk about their own dance.
Nikita is absolutely enchanted by Sawyer when she sees her in her powder blue dress under the dancing lights. She tries to make this whole thing no big deal, jokes around, has even brought Sawyer a corsage of giant white daisies. Sawyer feels bad that she didn’t get one for Nikita, but plucks out a perfect daisy from the corsage and tucks it behind Nikita’s ear. Then they go party! they’re the loudest ones, and NEVER leave the dance floor, they just dance the night away. During the slow dances they’re hella dramatic, having fun, making fun of the entire thing; Nikita even forgets its her one year anniversary. They dance like Romy and Michelle, they dance like Lady Bird and Beany, they’re just in their own little world. Sawyer was right, Nikita has a lot of fun.
It’s the end of the dance, and they’re both leaving hand in hand, giggling at how much fun they had. They’re leaving the dance with a crowd of people. And as the crowd moves past them Sawyer tugs Nikita’s hand, stopping her. Nikita’s hand never leaving Sawyer’s. She thinks of how this is already better than last year, where she kissed Stiles and sort of…uh fell off the earth.
That’s when Sawyer goes for the kiss, Nikita freezes and just lets it happen. Her eyes are wide as Sawyer kisses her, and there are fire works going off in her mind and her knees feel weak. Sawyer pulls away and Nikita wants another, leaning in eagerly. Sawyer gives her a large smile and says she’ll see Nikita the next day. Nikita is in a love-struck haze with a goober smile.
….off in the distance you hear the pained scream of Kain, crying out ‘NOOOOOOOOOO!” in his car.
“please, you can’t die now.” sawki
I actually wrote two prompts for this, so you may get the other one soon!
This was a change of scenery.
Usually when Nikita visited Sawyer in her dreams, they were in a barren snowy field. It was always miserable, gloomy, and brittle. Nikita didn’t like that dreamscape very much, but whenever she was there she would find a way to have fun, much to Sawyer’s dislike. Nikita had never seen real snow before, until entering into the world of Sawyer’s depressing dreams.
But this time it was different. The immaculate beige sand which Nikita stood upon felt like crushed velvet beneath her bare feet. Her toes tended to curl when she was inexplicably happy, and now she was smiling ear to ear. This dream felt so real, she could feel the ocean breeze raking its finger through her chestnut hair, the familiar scent of salt and seaweed making her heart race with excitement.
Nikita moved towards the water, allowing the gentle tide to plant cold kisses on her feet, her lips pulling into a smile. She had never seen this beach before in her life, it was unfamiliar to her. The water looked like a mix of true emerald and aquamarine gem stones, crystal clear in the shallow ends. Nikita’s head whipped to the right to see Sawyer standing right next to her, both girls donning simple white one-piece bathing suits.
“Where are we?” Nikita’s long dark lockes whipping in the wind, she was squinting at Sawyer for the sun was in her face. The freckles smattered along her nose and the tops of her cheeks visible now.
“I used to come here a lot when I was a kid.” Sawyer’s eyes on the horizon -Nikita swore Sawyer’s eyes and the ocean were one- She spoke fondly, and for once there was no infinite sadness laced in her voice.
Nikita’s attention turned to the horizon as well. “It’s beautiful here.”
She could feel nostalgia clawing at her from the inside. She had missed the beach so much, missed every little detail of it. Most of all, she missed coming to the beach with her mother. She missed her mother so much, the day her mother died was the day a part of her heart died. And Nikita knew she would never recover, no one could ever fill that void within her.
“I’ve been feeling oddly at peace lately.” Sawyer admitted. “At ease. Even with all this chaos surrounding us when we’re awake.”
“Why?”
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” Sawyer wrapping her arms around herself. “It’s like part of me craves it.”
Even though Sawyer’s words were troubling and terribly off-putting, Nikita was distracted, looking past the Draugr’s shoulder. There are the tide pools she spotted a woman, with vibrant wavy platinum hair. She was kneeling off the edge of the rocks, gazing fondly into the gorgeous vault of blues. Nikita watched as her red painted lips moved, she was speaking to the water, or perhaps she was singing to the water.
Sawyer caught Nikita’s perplexed gaze, she turned around to look. Admiring the woman from afar. The Draugr’s hands effortlessly slipped into Nikita’s, throwing the doe-eyed girl off. Sawyer’s usual disposition towards Nikita included death threats, and hostility. Although the two of them were starting to thaw towards each other, they never really got along. But Nikita kept quiet, allowing Sawyer to hold her hand, not wanting to ruin the serenity of this dream; for they were both enjoying this.
“I want to introduce you to someone.” Sawyer’s dimples appearing for Nikita, another thing she never thought she would live to see.
Sawyer pulled Nikita along with her, towards the woman. The rocks of the tide pool were sharp beneath Nikita’s feet, she wasn’t used to being barefoot like Sawyer, but she kept up regardless. The Woman had spotted them and stood to her feet, her white sheer dress floating around her like she were some unreal heavenly entity. Just the sight of her took Nikita’s breath away, even from afar she looked regal, unearthly, stunning. Her hands came to tilt her white wide brimmed hat up, her red lips now pulled into a smile at the sight of Sawyer.
The waves crashed into the rocks, ocean spray misting above them. They had come face to face with the woman now, Nikita shamelessly and openly gawking at her now.
Sawyer’s shoulders rose and fell, and she looked to Nikita with a wide smile. “Nikita, this is my mother, Verndandi.”
Nikita looked back and forth between the two of them, connecting the dots in the similarities of their appearances. She could see it now, from their eyes, to their smile. Nikita’s mouth opened and closed, until realizing how rude she was. Sawyer was introducing her to her mother, this seemed like such a sacred notion. Introducing your frenemy to your dead mother. Of all people Sawyer could show this to, it was Nikita. She felt so honored
“Uh-Oh, Hi!” Her words tumbling ungracefully from her mouth, and now she must have looked like an unpoised heathen.
Vernandi extended her hand, waiting for Nikita to shake it, Nikita gladly accepted. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Nikita.” Her eyes sparkling like the sea behind her, and immediately Nikita was enchanted with how soft spoken she was.
“Uhm, you’re really pretty.” Nikita blurted out, her hand still in Vernandi’s, her confession made Sawyer’s mother burst out in laughter, pulling her hand away to cover her mouth.
Nikita looked to Sawyer with a “where did you go wrong?” Glance, Sawyer’s upper lip curling in annoyance.
“Were you speaking to someone in the waters?” Nikita inquiring, for her mind was shamelessly curious.
Surprised at how real this all seemed. She felt Vernandi’s hand in her own, she felt the warmth there, she felt her beating pulse in the palm of her hand. Just being in Vernandi’s presence made Nikita miss her own mother. How her heart was aching now, she had never truly grieved the passing of her mother. Everything had happened so fast after Sarah death. When she had died the funeral arrangements had to be made, and while her aunt promised to take care of it all, Nikita really wanted to be a part of it, made sure her mother got a proper send off. And that’s when Walter came back into the picture, uprooting Nikita’s life so that she had to leave all she loved behind. She wondered what it was like for Sawyer when she had lost her mom.
Sawyer was the toughest person Nikita knew. She hardly ever showed any vulnerabilities or fears, she was always so defiant in the face of danger. Perhaps her mother’s loss wasn’t tough on her.
Vernandi nodded, her smile never leaving her face. “ There’s more beneath the surface than one would assume, and the world is so much bigger than what you’ve been taught.” She then placed colorful translucent stones in Nikita’s palm. Immediately the hairs on Nikita’s body stood on end.
“Mermaid tears.” Nikita whispered to herself, the name her own mother had given sea glass.
Sawyer’s eyes danced back and forth between Nikita and her mother. Nikita had wanted Verndandi to place sea glass in her hand, she wanted it so badly, and she did. Nikita was unknowingly shifting the dream to fit herself, without knowing or meaning to.
“How did you do that?” Sawyer whispered to Nikita.
While Sawyer’s mother was speaking about the vast world of the supernatural, Nikita was thinking of all she would give up just to see her mother again. She would give up all that she valued in her life -save for the people- she would be willing to give any powers she held, willing to give up half her life.
Sawyer’s mother was about to go on, when she spotted something across the way, behind the girls. “Nikita, it seems there’s someone here to see you.”
Nikita already knew who it was, who she had wanted to see so badly. She turned around to see her off in the distance, waiting for her. Nikita made a move forward when Sawyer’s hand wrapped firmly around her wrist.
“Don’t get careless, and don’t get attached. Because nothing hurts more than waking up and realizing it’s not real.” Sawyer warned, she showed in hesitance in letting go of Nikita.
“Is that my mom?” Nikita whispered, her lower lip trembling, Sawyer nodded and let go of Nikita’s arms.
“MOMMA!” Nikita cried out, and took off running, leaving Sawyer and her mother behind.
She was careful not to slip on the rocks as she dashed towards her mother. The wind pushed her hair out of her face, the tears that so freely flowed pushed off the side of her face, the biggest smile on her lips. Her heart was ready to burst with excitement, everything she could have ever wanted in her life was before her.
Her heart, her protector, her god, her lioness, her mother.
Nikita’s feet made it back to the soft sand, her mother coming closer in view. She stood there smiling, her hair loose dark waves pulled to the side. She too was in all white, a white flowy peasant top that showed her bare shoulders, wide legged white pants that flapped in the wind.
“Momma!” Nikita screamed with joy, she could see her mother’s smile now, the two of them shared the same dimpled smile. She jumped into her mother’s arms, nearly sending them both crashing backwards. But her mother held onto her steadily. This was all too real, her mother’s embrace, her warmth, even the scent of her. Sweet notes of orange blossom and cloves entering her senses, the scent had always been engraved in her mind. But throughout the months Nikita had already forgotten the sound of her own mother’s voice.
Sarah cupped her daughter’s face in her hands, her thumb brushing a tear her tears away. And she planted a kiss on Nikita’s forehead. “Don’t cry, baby, i’m here.”
Just hearing her mother’s voice again reduced Nikita to a sobbing mess, she buried her face in the crook of her mother’s neck, relishing the feel of Sarah’s embrace. Her mother rubbed soothing circles along her back, trying to get Nikita to calm down; but she was unconsolable.
‘I missed you so much, please don’t leave me again.” Nikita begging her mother, still refusing to step out of the embrace.
“I’m not going anywhere.” Sarah reassuring her girl, planting many more kisses in her hair. “Oh this is so lovely!”
Sarah’s chipper voice getting Nikita to lift her head. Next thing she knew she was seated at a table with her mother, Sawyer, and Vernandi. A fancy meal at the beach. The food before her was undoubtedly her mother’s own cooking, her favorite meal. It seemed Sawyer had taken back control of the dream, most likely to calm Nikita down. The Draugr was sitting next to her now, Nikita quietly sniffling, trying not to worry both of their mothers or ruin this moment.
“Are you ok?” Sawyer leaning towards Nikita.
Nikita opted out starting a conversation, her gaze still locked onto her mother. Her mind completely blown that she was here now, in the flesh, before her. Nikita found herself relaxing more as conversation went on with the four of them. Everything felt so natural, everything felt like it were in place, like their mothers had never died. What felt like an hour went by, and their mothers were even starting to become friends, like they had known each other for all their lives. Both Nikita and Sawyer were laughing, Nikita had never seen the Draugr like this ever before. She had never realized how much in common they had until now.
Then the sinking feeling of despair came for Nikita. Sawyer’s words from earlier echoing in her head, reminding her that none of this was real. What had started out so wonderful, felt so unfair to Nikita, so cruel. Her mother wasn’t alive, they had found her body almost unidentifiable. She was six feet under where the worms were making a meal of her body. Her mother was gone, forever, Nikita was there to sprinkle the black dirt upon her mahogany; she was there to say goodbye.
She must have tensed all over for Sawyer realized right away. Her glance was on Nikita, watching her carefully like a hawk, but Nikita’s eyes were downcast upon her empty plate. She ignored Sawyer softly calling her name. Several emotions were crashing and conflicting within Nikita so tremendously. She couldn’t tell if she was angry, sad, happy. She didn’t know what to make of this dream. How could Sawyer be so casual about any of this? How could Sawyer pretend that her own mother was really here? Was she so deeply steeped in denial?
Nikita’s thoughts were like a storm cloud, raging and dark. And much the same was looming over the waters now, the blue skies turning black. Nikita was polluting this dream scape without knowing.
“Niki, my beautiful baby girl.” Her mother was beaming from across the table, admiring her daughter. But now Nikita found it too painful to even look at her mother now.
The sharp winds were starting to blow sand at them, the harsh grains pelting against their faces.
Sawyer’s hand came to rest on top of Nikita’s, Nikita almost recoiled at the touch, why was Sawyer being so kind to her?
“Nikita, you need to relax. You should be happy, your mother is here.” Sawyer gently reminding her.
“She’s not my mother.” Nikita’s sharp tone startling everyone at the table, efficiently ruining the mood. She dared peer a glance at her mother to see the heart break on her face. Sarah said her daughter’s name so softly, her voice shaking for she were on the verge of tears
The winds grew harsher, plates flying off the table. Grey icy tides drawing even closer, crashing viciously onto the shore, threatening to swallow them into the rip-tides.
“Nikita, what are you doing?” Sawyer’s voice drops low, trying to keep their conversation only between themselves. “Stop this, Nikita.”
“I don’t want to be here, Saw-”
Next thing Nikita knew she was swallowing a mouthful of briny sea water. The cold bitter to her bones, the tides pulling her body away. She could see her mother along with Sawyer’s mother fighting to stay afloat in the raging sea, they were only a few feet from her. The sea was tearing them apart. She called out to her mother, screaming until her throat was raw. No matter how hard she swam, she couldn’t seem to make it to them.
“Please! You can’t die now!” Nikita crying out to her mother, choking on ocean water.
It was moments ago when she denied her mother, and now she was aching for her. She couldn’t lose Sarah, not again.
A gargantion wave swelled high above them, Nikita forgetting to hold her breath when it came crashing down on the three of them.
Her lungs ached to expand, straining for air.
She coughed out water, her eyes opening to a dim light. Delicate snowflakes fell from the gaping hole of the ceiling. Charred wooden beams far too fragile to be supporting the sky like that. Nikita propper herself to her elbows, the scent of smoke infiltrating her senses. It wasn’t snow falling from the sky, it was grey hot flakes of ash. Sawyer approached her now, standing tall above her. Nikita completely dry, like the ocean had never touched her.
Various soft colors of light fell on Sawyer’s face, light refracting through the remaining stained glass. She stared down Nikita with a stone faced expression, the disappointment thick and palpable. Sawyer had to watch her mother die again, along with Nikita’s.
“I’m sorry.” Nikita’s voice trembling along with her lower lip. “I don’t know how that happened. I didn’t want for that to happen.” She didn’t dare get up, afraid Sawyer would knock her over.
Sawyer shook her head, decidedly done with her.“Just wake up, Nikita.”
Nikita’s eyes opened to the dark of her room, her hair and back damepend by sweat. It was just a dream, but it felt far too real for her. She had touched her mother, she had held her mother, a lie, much like many things in her life. It was cruel, dangling what she can’t have in front of her. She would truly never feel her mother’s love anymore, never be able to smell her perfume, not genuinely anyways.
Realization comes to her and Nikita sits up, cuddling her stuffed dragon to her chest and burying her face in its head. Tears slowly roll down her cheeks. She doesn’t want to go back to sleep tonight, of fear of slipping back into her nightmare.
