Some quick murmurs about an appointment got Dick as far as Oliver’s office and a touch of flirting with the receptionist got a call in to ask if Mr. Queen was available to see a “Robbie”.
Ollie knows he’s supposed to be doing something. He knows it from the way he’s been at a low level panic since he got into work this morning only to discover he had nothing on his schedule today. That feels just a little bit off to him. He is, theoretically the CEO of Queen Enterprises. Theoretically, because he’s pretty sure his secretary might actually run the company instead of him. He’ll have to check on that the next time a performance review comes up. Point is, he should have something to do, but he doesn’t, and he’s a little scared his secretary is going to kill him at the end of the day for being unproductive.
So it’s a tangible sort of relief he feels when he gets a call from the receptionist asking if he’s available to meet with someone named Robbie. He’s absolutely sure he doesn’t actually know anyone by that name, but he waves them through anyways.
He waits impatiently for his guest to make their appearance, wondering if maybe he had a meeting scheduled today and it just got lost with the rest of whatever he was supposed to be doing. He wonders if his secretary is plotting a tack over of the company. He should look into that.
When his guest enters his office Ollie takes one look at him and snorts ungratefully. “Robbie huh?” He laughs “I didn’t realize you were going by that name now Dick. How tragic. You’ll have to send out for new monogrammed hankies now. Or is it bathrobes? I can never remember.”
Dick grinned broadly -- wolfishly, Barbara had described it recently, in a tone that said it didn’t suit him, being all teeth and only lately picked up -- and headed to Ollie’s desk -- not the chair opposite, but the desk itself.
“All my bathrobes usually have someone else’s monogram,” he said, his remarked countered by the Robin-like wonder his expression held as he looked around the office. “I didn’t feel like being that Dick Grayson today.”
He gestured vaguely around. “This looks nice. Bright. Very hippie-CEO.”

This was definitely not his turf, but Dick still had a bit too much circus in him to really enjoy Gotham falls and winters. Star City was much nicer, where the weather hit “crisp” but not “17 sweaters and still freezing”. The one downside to the lovely place was that Nightwing was just not well known, and the buildings in the new sector were a little too spread out for easy swinging. But, a primary word of a work vacation was vacation, so he could afford to have a little fun.
Queen Enterprises was in the new sector, all shining and gleaming buildings with no character--except for Queen Enterprises. If there was one thing Oliver Queen knew, it was style. After all, how else do you make a boxing glove arrow and have it actually work?
Some quick murmurs about an appointment got Dick as far as Oliver’s office and a touch of flirting with the receptionist got a call in to ask if Mr. Queen was available to see a “Robbie”.

Sorry to everyone I still owe replies to/trying to get a hold of me. I’ve been very busy with a minor but constant family emergency, so I’m on half-hiatus for the time being. I might be able to do a reply here or there, but I’m very low on sleep and time right now, so they’re more likely to not happen.
Sorry again!
Nothing like a beach day to make you appreciate the sun.
And So It Begins...
To say she was surprised that her thugs were taken down so easily would have been a complete lie. Okay, so Harley didn’t exactly have the funds or resources that some of the other big shots here in town did, but hey! That was no reason to be impolite to the little company she did keep.
She turned on her heel when she heard the skirmish, expecting the one and only Batman to be facing her down and trying to get her to be a good little girl and let him help. But noooo, she wasn’t even good enough for the Bat to show up! What was the bird doing here?! This was a robbery for cryin’ out loud and Nightwing didn’t even live around here anymore… did he? "Oh great, a second-rate hero for a second-rate villain, huh?" She growled, frustration and a bit of embarrassment in her tone as she scrunched her nose at him. Harley stuck her tongue out at the bird brat.
She placed one hand on her hip, her rucksack full of diamonds on her back, and wiggled the shot gun she held in her opposite hand. A small, gentle-looking smile graced her black lips. "S’pose you ain’t bulletproof though, huh, Birdie?"
Harley chuckled and swung her shot gun around, holding it in both hands, her eyes flashing with mischief and challenge. She cocked it and pulled the trigger….
….And pulled the trigger!
And…. pulled the trigger?
She blinked and broke her gaze for a moment to stare down at the malfunctioning thing. Had she… forgotten to reload? Seriously?! Harley, come on, this is no way to take over the town.
"Um…" She grinned up at Nightwing, a cheesy smile stretching from ear to ear, and shrugged. "Performance issues?"
And with that stupid joke, she threw the gun at him as hard as she could before yelping and taking off into the back of the store, looking for an exit.
Who was she calling second-rate? Not that that sort of thing mattered to him, but still.... It was the principle of the thing.
Dick crouched, ready to spring away when she fired when she... didn’t. Huh.
He supposed laughing would just be cruel at this point, wouldn’t it?
He still ended up having to leap out of the way when the gun came hurtling at him. Bullets or no, that thing was definitely heavy enough to leave a mark. He hopped up onto the counters, flipping across the store to meet her by the exit.
“C’mon, Harley, what is this? I thought you were out on good behavior and everything! What gives?”
I am the night.
OOC POST
So sorry that I haven’t been around much these last few days. Things have become unexpectedly hectic (thanks, cat) and this weekend starts WonderCon, so I will get out replies starting Monday.
<3333 to all of you.
Ha! You wish, Pal! I'll have you know that I would make a GREAT addition to the team IF I was even INTERESTED in that. And as far as costumes go, mine is *to the nines*, okay??? Red and black is soooooo in!
You know, I was red and black for a while. A very dark time, though. It was an undercover thing.
.....Say, have we met before?
So your style is more... what, exactly? Makin' a mockery of the Bat Family in general?
Wow, you’re pretty testy. What’s wrong? Did your “Join the Bats” application get denied? It’s OK, there’s always a grace period! Just make sure you get your three criminal references in on time. Oh, and don’t forget your costume design samples. Those are very important in the selection process.
My style is my own. I don’t need to strike fear into anyone. My goal is to show them what’s good about being good, not scare them straight, so to speak.
Yeah, and I don't think you've ever really struck fear into them like ol B-Man did~
That’s not really my style, but I can make it work for me when I need to.
I'm sure the other villains in Gotham are just *shaking* in their boots, Little Birdie~
Please, I’ve known them nearly all my life. The only thing that matters is that I’m not.
So you think you're good enough to wear the cowl, huh?
I would never be as good as him, but if I need to, I will absolutely step up and do it. Gotham needs Batman.
Superfan || Nightwing and Superman
Dick righted himself as Clark spoke, being only slightly showy as he flipped back up to standing. ”I know what you mean. We’re all a little scattered everywhere now.”
He sat down across from Clark— Superman— Clark…man?— looking much more sure of himself and neutral than he felt. ”I can’t think of anything better.” He wouldn’t lie, he had kind of expected this. After so much damage to the League as a whole, a lot of members weren’t returning, and with the large amount of public opinion against them, a new team seemed like a wise decision.
"I would be honored, Superman."
Clark sighed gently. The truth was that what Dick said was more than true. “A little?” he said with a smile. “Perhaps a little bit of an understatement there.” he said with a chuckle. Shaking his head gently.
"Great. I expect that you’ll be able to start straight away." he said with a raised eyebrow. The truth was that they needed Dick in the League yesterday, the League was stretched thinner than he wanted to admit. He had led the League when it was at full strength, and now he was leading it when it had never been this weak. It was a dark contrast. Not one that he ever wanted to experience again.
"Please Dick. The honor would be ours."
Dick nodded, smiling at the compliment. “I’d be happy to start as soon as I’m needed. I think we’re going to need a lot of restructuring very soon.”
He frowned, biting at his lip-- a habit he only did in costume in front of people he was very comfortable with-- as he thought. “Tell me, am I the only person being approached, or am I the first in a list? Not that I’m upset about it!” he added hastily. “I just want to know if there’s a total overhaul of the League planned or if we simply need a few extra recruits.”
Saying Goodbye || Kori and Dick || Past
Dick laughed and shook his head. ”She’s got powers of persuasion of the kind I’ve never seen.” He ran his thumb over the edges of the photos, quickly estimating how many there were. ”You sure took a lot of them. It’s nice knowing there are so many memories still around.”
Kori smiled as she thought of her Amazonian friend. “Donna charms anyone she meets,” She grinned as she nudged him slightly. “Even you love her, and don’t deny it.” She laughed. “You can have the ones I won’t be taking with me, I’ll rest easy when I know that they are with you.” She gave a small smile, as her heart clenched at the thought of leaving all of this, leaving her new home, her friends, him.
"Of course I love her. Everyone loves Donna! She’s my Wonder twin.” Dick laughed at his own joke, always more amused with himself than pretty much anyone else in the room, but never bothered by it.
His brilliant grin toned down when she spoke again, and he reached over and took her hand. “I’ll keep them very safe, I promise. They’ll all be waiting for you when you get back.” He looked her in the eyes. “We all will.”
