Not quite as planned

Sometimes things do not go according to plans ;) Like when Duke and Duchess of Meadows were getting some photos taken. I’m not sure what happened - they probably were just quick enough to find their positions, so instead of posing as the couple they are, it looks like they are out hunting :)

For the record, this photo never hit their wall.

Lady Corva Saxor of Meadows had her teen portrait taken!

It’s tradition in most hight nobility homes that teenagers have their formal portrait taken between the age of 15 and 20. Some houses prefer head shots only, while House of Saxor does a mix. Corva’s photo ia already up on the wall.

In two years she will probably be off to study at Windenburg Business High School, meaning she will move there because it’s quite a journey from San Myshuno. She has not yet decided on University or not, but there will be enough time to think while in Windenburg.

Ah, if you like the photos, their backgrounds are included in the Photo Studio remake I announced some time ago .

Coronation: Auphor Saxor, Baron of Verde

Finally, the controversies following the surprise verdict of the court trial has calmed down a bit, and on first day of Winter the new baron was crowned!

Auphor Saxor is 83, so it might not necessarily be a long ride, but he is looking good as ever and already moved to reside at Yuma Heights in Oasis Springs, owned by the Verde Trust that he now owns.

The recent publicity made Church of Similius more busy than what is normal for a baron’s coronation, and many familiar faces were to be seen.

The Starlight Accolades released a few photos from last night’s big event! And I’m a little surprised by some winners!

The audience - or should we say candidates for the prize - gathered at PBP Studio for this kinda locked event. We recognize text writer Octavia Moon, singer Suzi Sushi, actress (?) Holly Alto, Art Critic Diego Lobo and Actress Brytani Cho. I was a bit surprised to see Duke Victus Amador Saxor of Meadows on front row, especially wearing the Meadows District Order sash. I assumed he was invited to throw some extra glitz on the arrangement - despite the fame level was already rocking high...

I was pleased to see that also Jazz singer Olivia Clump attended (white dress). While Ms Alto obviously shared the moment with fans on social media.

This night they all, except Suzi Sushi and Olivia Clump, got the prize! Diego Lobo even got awarded the 110% prize (if that is a thing). But the biggest surprise was the winner of the Accolade for Best Performance!!! 

What? Duchess Gloria Saxor of Meadows??? She who never ever set foot in Plumbob Stuidios Studios, she would definitely never take part in a movie! So, could it be that the Accolades are now awarding the high nobility’s community engagements - was it her appearance at the Casbah Art Center’s 25th anniversary last year that was that awesome?

She arrived the event wearing a long floral dress (no sash), and above she is applauded by the other famous people. And now I understand why the Duke was seated on front row. She never stepped up to hold a speech, though.

(Oh well, I guess it’s the cost of using the fame system for my nobility... I can live with this, though)

Casbah Gallery 25th anniversary

Last week the popular Casbah Gallery at Arts Quarter in San Myshuno celebrated its 25th anniversary. Duchess Gloria of Meadows was invited and gave a short speech about how much the art center meant to her personally, both back at the day of the opening and this week.

Casbah Gallery is just a part of the building, which also is home to the Arts Academy High School. Diego Lobo, part owner and school Principal, informed everyone that they had a double reason to celebrate as the school was finally officially approved as they just hired the famous painter Vince Remeréz as Mentor! The Duchess could not hide a subtle grimace at these news. It’s widely known that she criticized Vince Remeréz years ago for painting her horrible wedding painting! She back then stated that she would forever keep distance to any business involving the painter.

The Duchess (67) looked younger than her age, all up to the news, that brought back all of her facial wrinkles. Diego Lobo (48) might be the coolest school principal of the entire region, wearing a pink and yellow suit designed by himself. Painter Vince Remeréz (65), who recently had his first child with Penny Pizzazz, wore his blue signature jacket - let’s hope it’s a remake, as he’s been observed wearing the same jacket for minimum 20 years...

Duchess Gloria of Meadows

There was a recent tour of the rebuilt Penthouse in Fashion District, residence of House of Saxor, but I don’t think I gave much info on the Duchess? Tonight she was the official hostess when the District Order of Meadows threw a gathering. There is on District Order per world, maintained by the district’s highest nobility. Because I use the club system, there can only be up to 8 members, but that limit makes it a tad easier to handle. These orders are also referred to as “Friendship Orders”, as they can be used to build unions between districts. 

These orders is where my nobility get their sashes, I’ll get to that some other time. Tonight the gathering was less formal. They gave some speeches, chatted a lot, put the ex-Duke on fire, and shared a meal on the roof terrace.

The Butler had the night off, and there was currently no Cook hired, so Duchess Gloria tidied a bit before going to bed. She decided to leave the rest for tomorrow’s Maid, and poured herself a drink in the office to calm down. Duke  Victus Amador was already asleep, his old father, the Ex-duke was upstairs in his room, and the house’s teenage daughter was asleep - hopefully.

Gloria (born Roxenfox - I love that lastname!) grew up as one of three daughters at the long expired Barony of Lunderclam. Her parents are gone, and so is her youngest sister Anthebe, who married to Lord von Harbor in Windenburg (actually a distant relative to Gloria’s husband). But Gloria’s older sister is still around, the elderly Duchess Claudine de Cavalier (Brindleton Bay).

Both Gloria (67) and her husband, the Duke of Meadows (49), is on the list of high nobility ambassadors who receive yearly allowance from the regional Council, meaning she has some community engagements around San Myshuno. She prefers art related engagements, but just started supporting a new project called “Spice Knit”, where elderly women all over San Myshuno knit warm clothes and toys for children of the poor quarters at Spice Maket. She always saw herself as too romantic and dreamy for having a proper career, so she skipped University but read a lot at Lunderclam Library, and did quite well ending as a Duchess.

This is daughter of the house, Lady Corva Saxor (17).

Lady Corva is their only child, which might be a problem some day, as only males can inherit this peerage! Gloria is too old for more tries, and the ex-Duke has of course brought this up many times, but has finally accepted the situation. A huge task is resting on Corva - she must marry and have a son before her father dies, or the dukedom will be passed on to another family branch. The Saxors have spread widely, there will be others. (Which reminds me I should actually set up the line of successors). Corva is very outgoing and loves socializing, it won’t take long until she is no longer a single young woman...

New Member of the Meadows Order #2

Once the invitation was sent, there was no return. House of Saxor sent out invitations to all members of the Meadows District Order for the knighting event on the 1st day of Winter, which is tradition. There are rules saying that the new member can be knighted with a minimum of two witnesses, but most district orders just as well gather their members. Hardly any of them have the full 8 members anyway, meaning it is not a big event. It’s not really intended to be a public session, either, but there might be one journalist present unless some of the members protest.

Well, this year I think the Meadows was the only district order knighting a new member. Lord Ted Rossell of Acres arrived San Myshuno with his wife, Meredith. All guests got seated (except Lord Vintec Rab-Saxor of Prome, who got stuck in the elevator), and the ceremony could begin!

Duke Victus Amador Saxor knighted Lord Ted Rossell of Acres (64). Of curse the sword did not show, but perhaps they quit using a sword ages ago...?

The other members enthusiastically watched the rituals. Above you see Duke Jarret Ross of Rossie (53), his wife Duchess Ribra Lynn (59) who was born Thebe and also carries the title Lady of Myshuno. Behind them is Lady Claudia Tangerin of Shine (69). Shine is an older name of the Uptown quarter of San Myshuno.

In the back we see Ted Rossell’s wife, Meredith (52). She certainly has a lesson to learn when it comes to dress codes, jewelry and make-up...

Duke Victus is still feeling that Ted Rossell should not have been included, but being 2nd in line to the dukedom, there was not much of a choice. Ted and Meredith even had a son, which Victus did not. If Victus dies, Ted will take over!

By this, Meadows District Order is full. As membership is life-long, it will not be possible to include new alliances in quite a few years.
