Ohio Legislature to Introduce Camera Ban

We have it on good authority that an Ohio legislator will be introducing a full ban on photo ticketing across the entire Buckeye state. [language]

Despite public outcry in multiple Ohio cities, most recently in Cleveland, the red light and speed camera scam has been allowed to operate at the discretion of corrupt city councils and mayors.

East Cleveland may be the worst example. The mayor threatened to cut police and fire personnel if the council got rid of their cameras. Just over a year later, the cameras are still flashing away, but police officers were cut anyway.

The Campaign for Liberty model legislation language will be used in an organized push for an all-out ban.

SB1352 Fails in Senate 15-15

The early returns are in on SB1352 and it’s not what we were hoping for. The worst part about this vote is how many republicans violated their own party platform and voted with the democrats to continue the shredding of your constitutional rights. Every single Democrat voted no if you’re scoring at home.

We expect this kind of behavior from Linda Gray, Adam Driggs, Nancy Barto and John Nelson.

However, Michele Reagan and John McCommish should really be ashamed of themselves. They’ve seen firsthand the legislative memos and crash data that proves these cameras are dangerous and violate your rights, yet they voted to continue the scheme in the sole interest of taking YOUR money.

We are asking that Reagan and McComish reconsider their votes on this issue. Contact them today and let them know what a terrible decision their “No” vote was on SB1352. We already saw one bill reconsidered and passed today, so let’s make it two tomorrow.

SB1352 Passes Committee

The photo radar prohibition bill has jumped over its first hurdle in Arizona State Legislature. It was passed out of the Government Reform Committee. This is the first step to kicking Redflex and ATS off your streets.

Thanks to those who came out. We had a very strong contingency of at least 10 that showed up to bravely speak out for the ban of scameras. That’s unbelievable support from people who have jobs and lives that don’t revolve around the Capitol Complex.

Unfortunately, everyone there got a taste of what is often referred to “your government at work.” The committee started hearing bills at 9:00 am and did not get to SB1352, which was 13th on the calendar until…. drumroll…. 9:30pm!

The committee members, including chairman Frank Antenori who introduced the bill, were very aware of our presence. They did the right thing and passed it, 5-1. Kyrsten Sinema was not present for the vote.

The next step will be to get a vote on the Senate floor, where it is expected to pass easily!
