Other states in the US look at #Mississippi like we’re bigoted religious zealots and just looking through the crowd for someone (anyone) to discriminate against because of laws like #SB2681 . People cry about the fact that there needs to be a separation of church and state, but now there’s a “religious freedom” law that is, when you get down to the grit of it, a bill promoting discrimination. I’m no political science or history major, but even I knew that religious freedom was included in The Constitution which was written well over 200 years ago. And if #PhilBryant and the other people in the Mississippi senate who passed the bill failed to realize that, maybe Mississippi is more backwater than I realized. This bill was vetoed by the Arizona governor a while back, but because we’re Mississippi, because we still have a confederate flag (which represents bondage) next to an American flag (freedom), in front of every government building, because of these things we—excuse me, not we—y’all have passed this bill. It’s pitiful. I no longer consider myself a Mississippian. I’m just living here until I finish my bachelor’s degree, then I’m out. *gets off soap box* *drops mic*
