“On the bus”
Brothers Jeff and Ron have been exchanging the same birthday card for over 40 years. Posted to Reddit by user venusreincarnate, the two have been sending this “Peanuts” card, featuring the character Linus, back and forth since 1973.
it is so upsetting listening to so many males talk about all of the times they have gone on road trips alone and slept in their cars alone or on the side of the road, or travelled overseas alone and slept on the floor of strangers homes or in parks or at hostels, and they appear to have such freedom in that they are able to be alone in ways that females, unfortunately, cannot. and there is an ignorance surrounding this in that these boys never seem to comprehend just how fortunate they are that strange people and unfamiliar places and the dark of night are not their enemies but rather exciting, promising things.
“Yes, my consuming desire is to mingle with road crews, sailors and soldiers, barroom regulars—to be a part of a scene, anonymous, listening, recording—all this is spoiled by the fact that I am a girl, a female always supposedly in danger of assault and battery. My consuming interest in men and their lives is often misconstrued as a desire to seduce them, or as an invitation to intimacy. Yes, God, I want to talk to everybody as deeply as I can. I want to be able to sleep in an open field, to travel west, to walk freely at night…”

And I asked myself about the present: how wide it was, how deep it was, how much was mine to keep.

I REBLOGGED This so FAST… and will keep doing it…
Did you hear about the black man in Baltimore that was killed, while in police custody?
1. Freddie Gray, who had 80% of his spine severed at his neck? No. the other one.
2. You mean Trayvon Scott, who in February died in a police holding cell without any explanation? No. the other one.
3. You mean Tyrone West, who despite never committing a crime, was beaten to death in an abandoned lot last year, and Baltimore refused to release the autopsy? No. the other one.
4. You mean George King, who was tased 5 times in 10 minutes while laying in a hospital bed, suffering from meningitis? No. the other one.
5. You mean Anthony Anderson, whose death was determined a homicide by the state’s medical examiner after being brutally beaten by police?
NO. the Other one.

You may have seen Melanie and Vanessa Iris Roy’s side-by-side pregnancy photo (top), as it’s been massively viral — but it’s definitely not the only inspiring and adorable shot of their family. In fact, every one of these deserves to go viral in its own right.

Do you see the work of farmers hands? The beauty and nutrient you are a me to enjoy? Your food and flowers and clothes don’t just magically appear before you, consider the history of everything you consume. Be thankful, speak gratitude, do what you can to elevate these lives.
While Washington partied, here’s what was happening in Baltimore
While the media celebrated in D.C. with a menu that included crabmeat terrine, paprika-rubbed filet mignon and seared Alaskan halibut, an hour away in Baltimore protests over the death of 25-year-old black man Freddie Gray at the hands of Baltimore police had reached a crescendo. Attendees at the D.C. event wore Forevermark diamonds and Armani tuxedos; people in Baltimore wore shirts saying #BlackLivesMatter and carried signs decrying police brutality. Others wore riot armor and clenched batons.
