Tumblin' Timbers at Land of Make Believe!

After I found out that the Land of Make Believe opened a new coaster in 2020, it led to 3 years of me being mildly annoyed that there was an unclaimed coaster credit literally almost in my backyard lmao (see the previous post if you don't know what I mean by the in my backyard thing lol). It took me that long to ride it bc I didn't feel like paying the unnecessarily high admission price to the Land of Make Believe just to ride this one thing. So I waited until my sister (who's closer to this park's demographic age than I am) had some family friends of ours from her school put together a group trip at an overall discounted rate and I went with her for that, and so I was finally able to ride it lol.

What's funny though, is when the ride opened in 2020, it was called Twisted Timbers lol. I think when I rode it, I may have even been wearing my shirt for the other Twisted Timbers, the one that everyone knows at Kings Dominion, just bc it'd be funny lmao. I wonder if Kings Dominion said something and that's why they had to chance the name haha. Anyways, the ride itself was nothing special, it's the same SBF Visa spinner you can find literally across the globe. It was smooth for the most part, minus this weird jolt/kick you got coming back through the loading platform. And coupled with the many times you're sent around the course, that got tiresome after a while. The seats were also hard molded plastic similar to Kiddy Hawk at Carowinds, which was also not super comfortable.

But for a kiddie coaster at a park geared pretty much entirely towards younger kids and families, it's a solid fit. I don't know that I'll ride it again next time I go to LOMB, but hey at least it's another option.

Tidal Wave at Jenkinson's Boardwalk!

This is basically a bigger version of Tumblin' Timbers at the Land of Make Believe that I wrote about a little over a week ago. It's got slightly longer trains with five cars as opposed to four, and as you can see from the photos above, a more involved layout. Keep in mind that this is still a coaster meant for families, so it's by no means the craziest ride ever, but it's more than the standard SBF Visa spinners like Tumblin' Timbers.

Tidal Wave has a double figure eight layout with one lap layered over the other, giving the ride one decent drop that kind of surprisingly whips you over if you're sitting in the last car, giving you an unexpected little pop of airtime. Beyond that though, the ride is pretty tame. You get sent around the course 3 times, so you get your money's worth for the $6 you paid to get on the ride.

The main complaint I had with Tidal Wave was the same one I had with Tumblin' Timbers, and that is the fact that the seats are not comfortable. Especially for someone like me who's a bit on the taller side, the unpadded, hard plastic seats and headrest were not super comfortable to go around for 3 laps in. The position of the lap bar and the angle of the bottom of the seats made it so I had a cramp in my hip by the end of the ride, so that wasn't really pleasant either. But this also isn't the only ride to do this for me, so it's not exclusive to Tidal Wave specifically.

Overall though, this is a good fit for Jenkinson's and seems to be popular with kids and families. The ride has a nice, bright color scheme, and I like how to enter the line, you go through a old school Volkswagen surfer van lol. Really fits a boardwalk/beachside park like Jenkinson's well.
