Valentine Nerissa Lawson
Valentine Nerissa Lawson | 6th Year at Salem Witches Institute | FC: WIlla Holland
Valentine comes from an irresponsible family. Left to her own devices by her teenaged parents, she had a lot of self-teaching to do. She taught herself to walk, she picked up talking from listening to the radio, yet, she never fully grasped the art of the written word. Semi-literate, she can read at a fifth grade reading level. The basics are there, but reading and writing haven’t exactly been a priority in her life.
Living in a small trailer in Utah, Valentine isn’t exactly the kind of girl you take home to your mother. She’s bratty, demanding and clingy. She requires time and effort and constant attention. Having not received enough as a child from her parents, she requires more from her peers, which can - and will - get old. Fast.
At seventeen, she’s the complete opposite of her parents; whereas they were pregnant by the time they were sixteen, she’s still a desperate virgin. Where they excelled, she fell behind, and quickly lost sense of herself. With the conception of her baby brother, she feels like a big mistake that they’re quickly trying to fix.
Raised immaturely, she still has the mindset of a little girl, and will often throw a tantrum to get what she wants. Unrelenting, she never gives up without a fight, and a fight you will get. She digs at your core to wear you down until you simply can’t take anymore and give in. A handful, anyone who gets too close is instantly clung to.
At first glance, Valentine appears to be an average girl. She works out in the morning just before breakfast, she skips lunch, and indulges like a queen at dinner. She enjoys shopping, hanging out with her friends, and ignoring her parents. Just like any other teenager, she falls in and out of love with new passions and trends.
However, there is a secret side to Valentine. Deep within her burns an intense love that cannot be quenched. Her heart throbs and her knees go weak. Pictures of her one true love are plastered on her walls. To her friends, she seems almost normal. They wonder why they haven’t met her boyfriend, or why he never seems to acknowledge her in the halls. She only smiles and shrugs, reiterating that he’s only protecting her. After all, isn’t he one of the most in-demand boys at Hogwarts?
Sven Underwood
Sven Underwood | 5th Year at Salem Witches Institute | FC: Andrew Vanwyngarden
Sven Underwood grew up with his three younger siblings and his two mothers in Northport, Michigan. A secluded little port town that sits on a bay of Lake Michigan. He spent his time with his siblings, exploring the woods, searching for petoskey stones on the beaches, or sailing in the bay. For the first eleven years of his life, he didn't know anything but his little town, and his frequented trips to the local candy store to get chocolate covered potato chips, or candy rocks. It wasn't until he received his acceptance letter to the Salem Institute of Magic that he knew anything outside of his little world.
He always knew he was a wizard, just like his brothers and sister. But he was different, not a normal wizard like them. As a child he would have sporadic hallucinations, nosebleeds, headaches. His mothers would always dismiss them. Tell him he was okay. Just different. Special. That he had a gift he'd learn to accept when he came of age. The visions that plagued him. The nosebleeds. The headaches. Sven knew it wasn't normal. But he had no way to explain it as a child. It wasn't until he started attending Salem's that his mothers informed him of what he really was. Just like his great grandmother, the crazy old lady in her rocking chair that spouted off little predictions and prophecies with her tarot cards, Sven was a seer. He was never very fond of that fact, but he dealt with it.
Going off to Salem's was the farthest he'd ever been from home, and it was an amazing new experience for him. Sven had been going to grade school with the same seventeen kids since he was five years old. Now he was going to a school with hundreds of kids. Kids like him and his siblings. He dove into his studies, though he had never been very good at schoolwork. He has a hard time sitting still and focusing on one subject for long, and often got reprimanded during class like History of Magic, or Muggle Studies. The only class he truly disliked was Divinations. Although he excelled in it, due to his gifts, he didn't enjoy it. He never asked to be a seer, and the visions were nothing but annoying to him.
Sven has always been an easy going person. He gets along with just about everybody, and almost never gets in any sort of argument or fight. If someone's angry with him, he chooses to ignore them rather than argue back. He doesn't let much get to him, and even if he does let something bother him, he will always appear indifferent. He hates giving people the satisfaction of knowing they've hurt or upset him. Sven has never been one to make enemies, though. Living in a small town, he learned how to make nice with everyone, even those you don't particularly like. If you hated one person, everyone else could, and more often would take offense to it. As a result he works well with others, and enjoys the company of just about anybody. He's very much so a people person and loves it.
The Triwizard Tournament came up, and Sven jumped at the chance to get out and see more of the world. He's still not sure if he's going to enter or not, but he wants to go to Hogwarts to see it all at the very least. What he doesn't realize, is that he looks just like a not so well liked, and former Hogwarts student, Franz Hirsch. He doesn't take well to the rotten looks and snide comments he's been receiving because he is being mistaken for the boy. Sven doesn't know that he looks like this boy, just that he's gotten more than one nasty look when he runs into Hogwarts students while everyone is preparing for the Tournament.
