"Run! Run faster!" Kuon chanted to himself mentally as he dashed across the hallways as fast as possible, chest heaving ever so slightly. When this had become a normal occurrence is unknown, but once again another girl was chasing after him with all her might.
He could still remember his first year in high school, and that may be where it all began. Kuon was an outgoing boy, and that attracted a lot of attention from his peers. His friends loved his easy-going yet lively nature, and the girls swooned over how if you managed to pull him away from the testosterone-filled crowd, he would turn into the most gentlemanly 'man' they had ever met. This contrast was what attracted girls to him, and what soon became his downfall. They loved watching him from afar, goofing around with his mates and shoving at each other, but still have the assurance that privately he would treat them delicately like a precious treasure, like she was his princess to protect from the rest of the world.
However, as they would later one by one find out, Kuon himself wasn't even aware of his actions; he had simply been raised to respect the opposite gender and it was something that had simply been a part of him ever since he was young. He wasn't doing it with the intention of courting or wooing the girls, but merely because he believed that was how all males should treat their female counterparts.
So when gossip that the girls he interacted with, or at least the one that somehow received the most attention from him at the time, seemed to have feelings for him that went past that of a friend, he knew he should set the record straight for her sake. He didn't like leading girls on and it brought guilt to him, but try as he might he just couldn't seem to shake the habit.
Fast forward to a year later and the cycle repeated itself. For some reason, despite his accidental playboy reputation, girls still continued to flock to him. This girl happened to be a member of the Karate club, which is the reason for Kuon's earnest wish of gaining as much distance from her as possible. In the past he had soccer balls kicked to his face and in another occasion, a girl pulled him into a chokehold; girls had caused him so many injuries, and he didn't want another one (even though he knew it was inevitable and he could only delay it).
