Well, this was the start of my day at work today. Water wasn't getting to the coffee brewers but it was putting out heat and steam on top like nobody's business so it caused a shit-ton of condensation under the cabinets which then dropped all over the counters by the time we arrived to open. 🙃 Still no word on exactly when they're gonna come fix it, just "within 24 hours". 🔥🔥 #SbuxProblems #BaristaLife
So.... this past week I trained 3 new people. 3. At one time. I had 25 hours of mine to train then. They get 20 hours of training each. So 60 combined hours into my 25.... I was at my wits end because not only was I training 3 people all at once but I was also trying to help out on the floor because we had at least 2 borrowed partners at any given time and every single partner we got was brand new. My final straw? One of the borrowed partners was going on and on about how amazing she is and how every store in the district wants her.... and talking about remembering when she was new and didn't know what she was doing. So I asked how long she's been at starbucks.... 3 months..... and it was pretty obvious. And then she did the unthinkable. While I was cold bar training 2 of the baby baristas (not at the same time) she kept answering questions for them. I was trying to get them to think. There was no time limit and I had already told them that. They were doing skills checks. And she kept giving them .5 seconds before answering for them. I'm not one to get angry and for sure not one to yell. But I was so frustrated. Don't step all over what I'm doing. And half the answers she was giving them were wrong. Why?? Just why?? So now I'm sitting at home. Enjoying my bottle of wine and silence after a long long week. Thank the goddess for days off.
I just love when customers ask me if I can make everything on the menu. like yes? it's a part of my job to know how to make everything... you think they just picked me up off the street and threw me back here and were like "well, you're on your own. good luck."
you know what I can't stand
when people bitch at you for things that are out of your control. for example, I had some gentleman at work today complain to me about the new mini frappuccinos. he was going off about how they're such a rip off and you're basically paying the same price (which isn't technically true, there's like a 20 cent difference but that's beside the point) for a size that is two ounces less than the tall and I kinda just stood there and didn't know how to respond. like what. you're not being forced to buy the mini frappuccino. calm down, bro. it wasn't my idea. there's nothing I can do for you. STOP YELLING AT ME.
How do you tell the new manager to get the fuck away from your store without getting fired?
