Guo Pei: Couture Beyond Now through March 4th
The Savannah School of Art and Design is hosting the first US museum show of the Chinese fashion designer Guo Pei. She was invited to join the prestigious French Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, the first Chinese national designer to do so. The museum boasts that you can see 30 of “her grandest, most dramatic gowns” from the past ten years as well as some ready-to-wear clothing. I only know her work from photos of red carpet events, so I am curious to see the everyday wear. The museum officially calls itself--I think--SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film. There are no other photos online, but if you download the Curriculum Guide, you will find a bunch more inside.

SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film will present the first solo museum exhibition by celebrated photographer Omar Victor Diop.
Opening February 17, ‘Project Diaspora’ is a rich, meticulously crafted essay of 18 works of art that explore the often neglected, but deeply entangled historical relationships between Africa and the rest of the world, including trade, early diplomatic encounters and the legacy of slavery. Diop's photographs focus on the representation of Africans in Western and Asian art history from the 15th to the 19th centuries, as he recreates portraits of individuals who became prominent figures in their unique contexts.
