Really don't like how much I'm seeing a culture of "You MUST do bioactive you MUST use xyz products you MUST do it THIS WAY ONLY!!" for things that you... really don't HAVE to do one way. Like. If the goal can be achieved in a slightly different way... let people do it that way?? This idea of "I am always right and if you disagree/differ then you are an animal abuser and human scum" is really bothering me.
I realize I'm vague posting but this is happening on Facebook groups. Which I guess shouldn't surprise me tbh. Just wanted to vent.
Gettin pretty tired of how common axolotls have become... the amount I see in normal households because "their kid saw one online and wanted one." Is staggering.
You can't just keep these in a normal aquarium... these are COLDWATER animals. No, an unheated tank is almost never cold enough... just not getting a heater doesn't always cut it...
You are aiming for the 60s, not 70s... you either need a chiller or a cold room. Period. I don't care what someone on the internet says who's had their for 6 months and feeds them goldfish.

You're telling me that this fish does EQUALLY well in nearly the ENTIRE range of acidity that bodies of freshwater come in? Really? The fish that comes from water that are naturally 5.0-6.5... they do PERFECTLY well in 8.0? Hmm? You're really gonna tell me that?
What, their bodies just magically ignore pH? I'm not saying fish can't live in a range and require an exact pH or they die but... come on. Few fish are happy in the ENTIRE pH scale. I mean seriously.
Tumblr is becoming more and more anti-vegan and it's really wearing me thin. I feel like even just saying this will get me some sort of flak.

MOST fish should have a certain ratio of males to females to have a healthy school. It is important because male fish will often display and spar with each other, as well as attempt to breed with females. Which is GOOD. It is their natural behavior.
What is NOT GOOD is taking females out of the equation. People do this with fish whose male population is bright and colorful while females are drab. So to make their tank look nice they get all males. And make their fish miserable.
When you take out all females suddenly everything is off balance. Where a male could previously display and spar then stop and go chill for a while- he suddenly cannot, because the tank is full of NOTHING but other fish who want to display and spar. This causes much stress to the fish. And we all know how stress and illness are tied together.
So people sentence fish to lives full of stress and fighting because "it looks better".
Can we stop doing this please. This is another side effect of wanting animals for your pleasure only, and not caring for the needs of the animal.
