I really hope Pawbert gets his redemption arc, even if it's not on screen. And Gary seems like he'd forgive Pawbert if that's true. Not blindly, but with visible growth. And Pawbert needs that kind of support in his life, since his family sure isn't going to give him that. I don't really know what kind of prison sentence Pawbert would get for what he did, but I feel like he could apply for parole eventually??
I'm so tempted to write a fic that delves into Pawbert and Gary's first meeting, adding more context to the little screen time we really got to see them interacting one on one, and also freeing my many thoughts on Pawbert's complicated headspace while grappling between what he planned to do to be accepted by his family, more especially his father, and how when, (in my head-canon) the moment he laid eyes on Gary, he realized how hard that was actually going to be.
On a side note, my bff and I were quite relieved to see that reptiles weren't given a bad rap in the end, like a lot of depictions of them.
I'm curious to see what they'll do with Zootopia 3 and the introduction of avians, fingers crossed is goes as well as 2,
