For February’s @bjdchallenge: my first doll. This is Gwalchmei, or little Gawain, a Dollzone Scarecrow Hal. He is directly and uniquely responsible for the presence of 26 more resin ladies, knights, youngsters, babies, sundry creatures and even one wizard in this house. He was my first doll love and I still adore him, despite his very ugly knee joints XD!
At this moment, the poor boy is sitting naked in the dolly cupboard, waiting for me to make new clothes for him. His outfit consisted of the first doll clothes I ever made (childhood Barbie fashion made of old nylon stockings not included), and he really needs and deserves something better.
This year in July, Gwalchmei will be 7 years old. I love all my dolls, but he is my darling, and my heart still jumps when I see a Scarecrow Hal - which, nowadays, is definitely a *lot* more often than in the first few years that I had him. All Scarecrow Hals look like Gwalchmei to me. I’ll see one and think, “look, it’s Gwalchmei in disguise!” :-)
