Allen sat in the corner of his room, his back between the two walls as he stared into nothing. His arms were wrapped around his legs, holding them close to his body. The boy's chin rested on his knees, his scraped and bruised knees. He trembled slightly as he sat there, alone in his room, the only light illuminating the area a small candle that weakly flickered from his bedside table. The softly dancing flames didn't show the tears sliding down Allen's cheeks, or the bruise on his eye and the wounds on his feet, hands and stomach. He felt as though every bone in his body were broken and as if someone had torn all the strength out of him. It was a horrible feeling, and the boy just wanted to relax, but even with all doors lock and the blinds closed, Allen felt vulnerable. He couldn't close his eyes or rest with his back to any entrance to the house. He stared at the door with glazed eyes, his lip trembling as he prayed the fear would stop.
