scarlett had invited rosa to her own private estate that she shared with her husband. ever the hospitable hostess, she'd done her best to make sure that everything looked perfect. there was a spread of food laid out for them and drinks, should they decide they wanted any.

after shooing her husband out of the way, which she imagined he was relieved about anyway, she made her way out front to welcome her guest as she arrived, smiling as the car pulled up the driveway. "rosa!" she smiled. "welcome! i hope it's alright that i invited you here. i just thought it would be a good place for two ladies such as ourselves to talk." she reached out to embrace her, a genuine and warm smile on her face. "how are you? you look just lovely by the way."

          For a party where dates were required, it was way too easy to crash the masquerade. The funny thing being that she came here with someone still, just not with someone. But she didn’t just come here to see what exactly about this party had her parents in one of their annoying tizzies. She came because of this stupid, nagging feeling in her gut that had been there since her not-so-lovely bump in with her brother. “Okay,” the blonde faced away from the bar on the roof of the hotel, leaning back against it and staying almost completely still when she finally saw Aspen, “Who the hell is the brunette?”

scarlett wasn’t a heavy drinker. sure, she attended the occasional party that was hosted by the sorority she was rushing for at the school, but she didn’t actually drink very often. she definitely didn’t drink enough to get plastered like this... she was a lightweight and she knew her limits. perhaps it was being surrounded by people she knew and trusted well that had made her more inclined to... overindulge when john hadn’t been looking when he’d had some friends and family over. she squinted through the sunlight as it poured into the closet that her father had thrown open, trying to ignore how the light made her already pounding head hurt even more. “fuck...” she groaned, pulling some random jacket from the hanger above her to cover her face. “dad, at least close the blinds or something, what the hell... and before you ask, it was mark that slipped me a few when you weren’t looking.” it wasn’t... it had actually been rose... and just the first one. the other three, she’d snuck herself.

Scarlett had basically attached herself to Bucky. Her arms and legs wrapped around him as he was walking around the house trying to get things done. He knew that Scarlett had a nightmare about her time in HYDRA last night

“Doll- you gotta let me breathe once in a while.” His arms found her thighs, readjusting her on his back so her arms weren’t all the way around his neck. “That’s better..”

[Flashback before they “met” on the train]

Scarlett had recently gotten out of HYDRA, she was stay in an apartment that only Bucky and Scarlett had a key to as Scarlett was still in hiding for both HYDRA and the police. Bucky had come over to drop off some food for her. When he came in, Scarlett didn’t know it was him and quickly grabbed her gun and pressed it to his chest.

She looked up finally recognizing him, lowering the gun.

Oh… it’s just you, sorry.

She quickly puts the gun on the kitchen counter.

Why didn’t you tell me you were coming over earlier than usual?

He grins darkly when she spins around, the sound of her gun cocking setting his own neck hair straight up. Almost like she wanted to kill him.

He probably deserved it.

“Hi, shortstack.” He rumbled, still gripping her hands with enough to bruise if he pressed a little harder. “Hey, I’m home”

soon, Scarlett walked into the apartment. She was cold and tired. She glanced around for Bucky.

Honey?

she called out as she slipped out of the heel, letting out a sigh of relief.
