" ELDERS, SAGA. YOUR KIND MUST NOT GET TIRED. " Even she was tired, which spoke a lot, for an individual as fit and outdoorsy as MARI. If there was one thing she'd dreaded since she got stuck here though, it was having to walk on foot, for none of the beasts she had befriended were big nor strong enough to carry her.
AMAZINGLY, her canine companion—the lucario who was traveling with her—seemed completely unfazed even after several hours of hiking. They'd climbed up and down the mountain, yet Saga did not break a sweat.
' Do not mistake silence for indifference. Even a fighting type such as myself can get fatigued. ' Replied Saga, who continued walking. Mari traced her footsteps, and glanced behind her; ECHO was clinging to her shoulder, but poor Kip was trailing behind . . . the gible's short little legs couldn't carry much further.
" Let's take a rest, at least for an hour. I don't know how much longer I can go without a break, and I don't think KIP can handle much either, " Mari suggests. " If we gauge our time right, we can be in the next town before dusk. "
' ALL RIGHT. ' Saga pauses in her walking, and turns to the rider, giving a nod of confirmation.
So, they set up camp near the edge of a clearing. Mari had had to settle with cooking through more conventional means than she was used to. All this instant cookware stuff was convenient, but it also felt too easy. While she'd learned a few things about instant meals, she mostly stuck to the berries and bread they collected and bartered for.
It's a quiet thirty minutes. The pokemon are hungrily devouring her food, with Mari sitting and simply enjoying the atmosphere. It is by then that Saga interrupts; ' SOMETHING'S NEARBY. '
" Hmm? " Mari didn't quite sense it yet. To be honest she was still attuning her ability to the wildlife here. She rises to her feet, just as something rustles in the bushes nearby. // @scarletwingedking
