Asgard hadn't always been Sigyn's home but it was the only one she had. She could not recall the home she had been in before, nor she could she remember her parents. All she could recall was being found in the forests surrounding Asgard by the God of the Sea and being brought to his home. That had been many years ago but she was still young, still just a child that Njord was raising as she were his own.
Despite knowing nothing of herself and no-one knowing anything of her, Sigyn still got on well with the Gods and Goddesses of Asgard. She was often found hiding behind their legs or sitting upon Sif's lap and playing with the Goddess's beautiful tresses. Sif was her favourite. She was a brave, noblewoman but still had a heart of gold and more often than not was the one who made Sigyn feel the safest when she was scared. Particularly when Freyja - Njord's biological daughter - had shooed her away.
It was a day like any other day, at least to Sigyn it was. She had been darting around outside, dipping her feet in the waters of the beach that Njord's manor backed out onto. She had been content in her solitude, she often had to be due to the age difference between her and many of the others who lived in Asgard. She was the youngest among the Gods and Goddesses, by several centuries.
However, as she stepped into the water, watching the way the water rippled as her toes submerged, Njord came to her side and lifted her to rest her upon his hip as he usually did. "Come, my dear child, Odin has returned from his trip to Jotunheim. The Gods are gathering to welcome him home and I do not wish to leave you alone in the manor, so you are to come with me," he informed.
The young girl scrunched her nose, that required dressing formally and brushing her head and Njord laughed, as if knowing what was going through her head but he did not make her present herself fully, instead he just ensured she had a long, thick cloak on so that she was warm on the ride there.
When they arrived in Valhalla, everyone had gathered, murmurs going around the room of someone new having arrived with Odin. Some looked unhappy with the idea, some looked uncaring. Sigyn, however, looked curious and disappeared from Njord's side in order to lift herself onto a window sill and look around the room for whom the Gods were whispering about.
Her curiosity had always been one of her downfalls but it was often met with shyness too. So, she usually never got to quench her curiosity completely but this time mere whispers were not enough to explain to her what was happening so she had to look for herself.
