That’s a wonderful idea! We’ll be putting out a series of posts over the next few days featuring prompts that have been claimed. We also have quite a few participants working on their own ideas, so keep a lookout out for those as well once posting starts on October 20th!

Thanks so much for putting this together! I'm excited for Halloween, and this combines two of my favorite things. I also love that there's so much flexibility regarding prompts and claims, so we all have an excuse to create Spooky Stucky regardless.

Hi mods! Thanks for running this! I'm super excited seeing the ideas this challenge has generated. Quick q--In other prompt fests I've joined, we didnt have to follow prompts the whole way through. I've assumed this was the case here, but given recent developments, I thought I ought to check? Thank you!!

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like your experience is pretty consistent with expectations here.

Prompts are meant to be suggestions rather than requirements. If you see one you want to follow exactly? Great! If you see one that’s close, but not quite what you had in mind? Also great!

So long as you respect the prompter’s Do Not Wants and are faithful to the prompt where you can, we encourage you to run with it wherever the story, and Steve and Bucky, take you.

For this question "Normally for a prompt or bang I assume the prompter wants a happy ending, but since this is horror, is it safe to assume not if they didn't specifically say they wanted a happy ending? " I wrote a bunch of prompts and didn't specify bc i wanted authors to feel unconstrained but i definitely don't mind happy endings at all. (I'm a sucker at heart). Do whichever you want. I want my authors to be free to do either.

so i wanna sign up for the bang, but what if i look at the prompts and i find that none of them seem like something i'd be able to write/the one i did want to write for is taken already? (i don't have that much experience writing and i wouldn't want to mess up anything that someone else could do better, but horror is my favourite genre) could i still withdraw from the event?

It's absolutely not a problem if you can't find a prompt that you want to claim. Signing up does not obligate you to make a claim. It just gives you the opportunity to.

Promoter here. This is in response to something that was raised a while ago. I didn't specify if I wanted a happy ending or not but don't feel that means I don't want one. Do what u like.

Yo, I gotta say this is the best idea in the world! There's never much horror fanfic out there, and its one of my favorite genres. I don't have time to do it myself (curse you employment!) so I'm eagerly waiting for this bang to commence!

I have a horror fic I was going to write for Halloween this year, which I think would be perfect for this bang. Problem is, it's a sequel to a short fic I wrote last year. Would I be allowed to write this sequel for the bang? If so, I think I can make it so it stands alone, though reading the first one would be helpful.

We strongly encourage participants to create new material for the event. That being said, so long as it can stand entirely independently, writing a sequel to previous work is acceptable.
